strange days
So. It's been a peculiar run the past couple of months. I haven't put too fine a point on it because I was never completely sure what was going on or whether what was happening would last or not, but I feel reasonably confident that the whos and wheres and whats of the past week are sufficiently promising to actually pass the info along- at least to my nearest and dearest.
A couple of months ago, I got on craigslist and found myself someone who I got along with splendidly and who liked all the same weird things I like. Unfortunately, he was emotionally unavailable, which he failed to mention during the two months we were dating. That is until I actually asked for something. bah.
Anyhow, a few days after the ax fell, Meg's friend Paul came to stay with me so he could go to the Revolving Dinner Party. We stayed up talking 'til the wee hours two nights in a row, and it soon became apparent, as it turns out, we're mutally smitten. After four days of intense 19-year-old style oggling each other, we decided to make a go at it. So, despite the fact that he lives 3000 miles away (he's a geophysicist at Stanford), I kind of think this might be the next stage of things for a while. I know this all sounds insane, and has the potential to fail miserably, but- on the other hand- good things rarely conform to standard senses of norms or even decency. He's already bought his ticket to come visit in three weeks and changed his phone plan. Maybe a couple of visits to the Bay area during the worst of the storming and snowing will keep me from going crazy this winter. Guess we'll see.
