With a groan, Cordelia drops her red pen on top of the latest graded paper. Sometimes, being a teaching assistant really sucks. Other times it’s rewarding, but at this moment the dismal and uninspiring papers on Jane Austen are making her want to weep. Or throw herself out her window.
She arches her back and sighs at the satisfying pop of her spine. Stressed, tired, frustrated, and bored are all perfect words describing her state of being at the moment.
Her neck is the next part of her body to be cracked. Twisting in the chair, the leather jacket on the red comforter catches her attention. As do the sounds of the television filtering through her door from the living room.
Suddenly Cordelia has the perfect cure for her tedium: her boyfriend.
It had been Caleb’s turn to make the trip for a visit. He’d been able to get three days off that coincided with the weekend, and for the most part she’d had nothing major to take care of; except these damn papers of her students that she’d sequestered herself off to finish for a few hours.
Swinging her legs down from the desk, she rises swiftly, feet pushing off the cement floor. She opens the door to her bedroom and finds a peculiar sight. Normally when the federal agent watches TV, he sprawls his lithe form out to take over whatever piece of furniture, comfortable and relaxed. In opposition to his norm, he is sitting straight up, hands braced on his knees, eyes firmly glued to the screen.
That he doesn’t even notice as she walks towards him along the back of the couch is odd too. Neither does he move when she reaches out a hand to sift through his hair, fingers scratching his scalp.
It takes her a moment to place just what movie he is watching. Though when she does recognize it, she berates herself for doubting that her sci-fi junkie of a boyfriend would be watching anything else. Her dad had loved the remake of this series into a movie and her brothers had too.
Cordelia lowers her head to speak in his ear. “Hey, baby-”
She is cut off by Caleb grunting and shushing her.
An eyebrow arches and her tone lowers seductively. “But I’m bored, Caleb. I want to do something.”
Caleb actually pats her on the head this time, eyes never leaving the flashing screen and loud special effects. “Sshhhhh. Not now, ‘Delia. Captain Pike is about to leave the Enterprise.”
In disbelief at her boyfriend’s stupidity at not catching onto her subtle hints, she rears back to stand. Hands on her hips, she shoots a glare to the back of his head. “Well then, I’ll be sure to inform Starfleet about your commendable restraint when your girlfriend offers herself to you. I’m positive they will be delighted to accept you.”
Striding back towards her bedroom, Cordelia jerks her shirt over her head. Her pajama shorts are next. “I’ll just be naked in here by myself. Have fun with Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock all by your lonesome self.”
She’s busy working her panties down her hips when two hands wrap around her waist. They lift her up and lightly drop her down on the bed. Dark eyes smolder down at her as long fingers get rid of any remaining garments.
Cordelia smirks up at Caleb as he leans down to kiss her. “That’s what I thought.”
‘Starfleet my ass.’
