He has always known that his son’s job is a danger. It goes hand in hand with the gun that is always attached at their hips.
Known it back when Don had first told him and Margaret that he was leaving the Rangers for Quantico. He and his wife had tried to dissuade their stubborn eldest, but stubbornness had won out over concern.
The danger is always there. A stray bullet, a direct hit, a glancing blow or a surprise knife.
But now… Now Alan really knows as he waits and prays for his son to open his eyes again.
