Yuletide recs

In between helping my mom get the turkey stuffed and in the oven for our belated Christmas dinner (the power went out yesterday afternoon, and stayed out long enough to make roasting a turkey impractical), I've been browsing the Yuletide archive, like you do. So, have a few recs!

I was lucky enough to get two fics this year, and they're both really good.

"This kid I once knew": Calvin and Hobbes, set in the future, when Susie has gone off to college, and it is beautiful and cute and funny and perfect. I teared up the first time I read it, because yes.

"Songs about love and death": War for the Oaks. Willy Silver's POV on the events of the book. This is really well-written, and I enjoyed it a lot, although I feel like I need to read it a couple more times to have coherent thoughts about it.

And now, onto fics written for other people:

"Goodnight Room": That Goodnight Moon fic that everyone is raving about. Bunnies in Spaaaaace! Seriously, it's amazing. Just go read it.

"Between Now and Forever": A Little Princess, but based on the 1995 movie, not the book. Sweet and touching and believable.

"That'll Teach the Landlord for Saying 'All Utilities Included'": A Softer World fic. I have to admit, I initially clicked on this because I didn't see how fic could even work for this fandom, but I was really glad I did. Tagline: "People are driving to their jobs. We're in your basement building a time machine."
