Weird dream

So David Letterman was apparently very ill, so ill that he was broadcasting from a table in front of the audience. He did a monologue, which was very funny, and then slowly, somehow, the audience started to join David onstage. He was deteriorating in front of everyone, until he was barely more than a skeleton with a suit on, talking about his illness and having a "spine readjustment" and some other extreme surgery. The more he talked about the surgeries he had, the less the audience applauded his perseverance, almost as if they knew this wasn't something he was going to survive. And indeed, when he became nothing more than a spine and skull with a strange toupee, he said exactly that. Not only was this to be his last broadcast, but it was to be his final moments on earth, to have the life support on the table (which wasn't there earlier) turned off. There was a strange montage of clips, with this sort of gospel choir singing a song called "Don't Be Dependent on Your Love." I guess the song was about caring too much about one's job. A few talking heads came on here and there, talking about David not eating anything healthy for at least a year or spending more time with his kid than focusing on work. Some other voice spoke while the montage was going on, saying that he had just "given up" the last few months. The song went on, "Don't be dependent on the love, Don't be dependent on the love, It's not the world you're thinking of, Don't be dependent on the love..." It was a swung pop tune, with a rhythm of "x-&-2-&-3-&-4-&|1 - x - x - x - | etc." in C major (x-E-E-D-D-C-C-C|C - - -|x-E-E-D-D-C-C-C|C - - -|x-F-F-E-E-D-D-D|D - - -|x-F-F-E-E-D-D-D|D - - -|)

No credits, no applause... just audience members shaking David's fragile hand, and fade-to-black. That was absolutely creepy.

I need to stop eating before I go to sleep. Back to bed.
