So I got into Thagard with 10 minutes to spare thanks to Katie. After getting in I wasn't seen till almost 8:30. After hearing my symptoms she ordered a mono test, white blood cell count, & rapid strep test. (After telling me that it's possible I got mono from my brother in March, and this is a flare up. Helllo, I was sick BEFORE I saw my brother!)
Results:
- Streptoccoccus Group A: negative (of course I could have one from groups B, C, D, E, F or G)
- White blood cells: pretty elevated
- Mono: Negative
So after already having the q-tip of doom in my throat, I consented to have it done again to culture whatever the hell I have in there. Results in 3 days.
Until then I have a Z pack (5 day course of azithromycin) to get through. She did manage to give me a note to give to my professor in case I don't get my final in time. Arg.
There were a couple of interesting observations made:
- My lymph nodes are really swollen. I've never really experienced that, but when she touched them there was this "oh let's not ever do this again" feeling. Of course, I'm so fascinated by this that I keep touching it myself. LOL
- The fever really does get higher with activity. When I got up at 7:30am temp = 98.7 When Thagard opened at 8:00am temp = 99.7 Temp when I was seen by a nurse = 100.2. Well, it just likes to move on up with movement, aye!?
Thank you to all of you who have called to keep me company, and given me support, through the internet and other media. I really care about you, and realize you're not like my other friends.
I should be fine soon and will update on the car saga later....
PS: If anyone in town reads this, if you could drop off a change of address form for my mail (need to have it redirected home to SC for a buncha weeks) I'd appreciate it!!!
Thanks guys!!!
PS: Best of luck on finals!!!
