311, hataz step off

SO I was feeling like a spendthrift and picked up the new 311 album. Not because I'm particularly excited about the new single, but more out of a loyalty thing - though it's unfitting with most of my music collection, I genuinely like their sound, I'll always be curious as to what they're doing. They're drifting out of the youthful sounds that drew me to them in the first place, and locking into a lot more of the same vocal rhythms and reggae afterbeats, giving off a general hey-bra-let's-pop-open-some-Bud-Light-Limes-and-smoke-Sticky-Icky-outta-my-$400-bong vibe. The song from this album that typifies that is the single they released, "Hey You."

Why the hell was that song picked to be the single? I still maintain buying the album was worth it, because of the other nice tracks I discovered that were buried nice and deep, where all innovative stuff from famous bands "belongs" .. God I hate the radio sometimes.
