A while ago, there was a chat going on Skype with thanfiction and others about Snape, Terry Boot, and Fenrir Greyback in Dumbledore's Army and the Year of Darkness. (Those who read it and didn't like the way Snape was portrayed might find this interesting.) This is mainly as a place keep this information and as a link to those at the DAYD community--though if ( Read more... )

You should so link this to the comm. Just sayin''

Anyway, I will read the Greyback bit when I have more time, but I absolutely have to respond to the information about Terry. I won't say what he did was right, because it wasn't. But, then again, he was fighting a horrible addiction, was obviously scared, and didn't take the dark mark. I mean, Mike was his everything. I think not wanting to lose Mike was probably a significant part of why he didn't tell Mike the full details. If Mike ended their friendship on the basis of him telling Snape DA stuff, Terry would have noone. That probably was a bigger factor than being lieutenant. At least, in my opinion. And I can't imagine how much he would have hated being dependent on Snape... Especially after the incident with Belsen. He detested Snape for doing that to Mike and he probably hated himself fr continuing to be under Snape's influence even more after that. While Terry was kind of an idiot and handled the situation the wrong way, I don't think any less of him for that or like him less as a character. I feel even worse for him. Really. And it makes me like Snape even less. I don't think Terry reviled in the double duty he was playing. That much is obvious by his refusal to take the dark mark. And in his plan to try to break Snape. I am also impressed at how he was able to keep all this from Mike, and for how long. Though I don't wish to think about how Mike would have reacted to this information.
