I am totally convinced now! Not that I'm against you trying a little harder, deeper, faster...okay, no, wait, focus now! Obviously, speaking and being coherent are not the same thing. All your fault!
Muscly Ianto bench pressing 200 pounds, kickboxing, fucking Jack against the wall...Um, yeah! Yummy! Just...yummy!
Okay, coherent, sensible comment now. I definitely think going further into Ianto's thought processes in this story brought the whole thing together. His actions make much more sense when you know what's going through his head.
I think kicking Jack in the ass did a lot of good for their relationship by letting him know that his favoritism toward Gwen was very obvious to the rest of the team, not to mention being totally unfair and unacceptable. Until it was shown to him in full color, Jack didn't seem to realize how bad it looked or how badly he was hurting Ianto. He needed to have it shoved in his face to wake him up and make him do something to fix it. This way, both he and Ianto had to admit to their feelings, somewhat, and at least start to talk about it. Ianto moving in with Jack is a big step in the right direction. Now, if they can just keep it going.
And of course, no one could object to a bit of hot shower sex! I sure didn't, as has been made very obvious by just how long it has taken me to type this comment. Did I mention that I really liked this story?

I think too that perhaps I may need to go back and maybe do a third, see what happens when someone notices that Ianto's things aren't in the locker room... I'm toying with it. I haven't fully decided. I'm currently working on Big Bang for Jack/Ianto so that may be my focus for awhile but someone else made some great valid points about Jack's motivations that I hadn't taken into consideration.
Or maybe I'll leave well enough alone. I'm fairly happy with them now. :)

I agree that there were some valid points made. I do feel the need to point out, however, that while Rhys was standing next to Gwen, enabling him to shield her, Jack was nowhere near Ianto when the thug attempted to shoot him, and afterward, Jack was blocked by the alien and couldn't get to him to help him. So he wasn't just standing watching, it was physically impossible for him to do anything. It's a fact that Jack will lay down his life to save his team. Whether it's his one and only life, or his millionth shouldn't diminish the fact that he's willing to do it. The result is the same and no less painful for Jack, especially as he's willing to do it again and again. And, I think Jack would be more distressed that he couldn't help a member of his team, as he did for Tosh directly afterward, than he would that he didn't get to play hero.
As for the kiss the night before they sent Tommy back, nothing was shown after that to tell us how far that did, or did not, go. For all we know, Jack just told Ianto they had a long day ahead, go home and get some sleep. That wouldn't have exactly reassured him as to his standings with Jack. And that was in the ep directly preceding "Meat", so there was not necessarily time between the two events for them to make any progress on their relationship.
I definitely agree you did an excellent job on these two stories. I too wondered in the back of my mind though, who would be the first to notice Ianto's personal items were missing from the shower room and that he was obviously showering elsewhere. Not saying you have to write it, but it would be interesting to see, yes?

That said... I think it would be Tosh. Don't you? Gwen's a little wrapped up in her own little world, and Owen doesn't care, but Tosh... She looks out for Ianto. I think they have a deeper friendship than is shown in the show - again another thing that bothered me. I think she'd be the one to notice.

Also if you watch that scene closely (Ianto struggling with gunman) you will see Jack CLEARLY trying to line up a shot without accidentally hitting Ianto, getting frustrated when he could not.
And in my estimation, for me personally (plus I wrote that fic about it) their first time was Meat. In the deleted scene, Ianto looks like he has never laid eyes, nor hand on Jack's 'junk' as it were, before this. I have yet to read all the books but on the show there is never a clear sexual timeline for them, just vague comments/remarks.
Just wanted to pop my opinion in.

It would have been nice if they could have shown any kind of continuity in the storyline, but that's rather hard (no pun intended. Or maybe it was) when TPTB take the episodes and switch them around, out of the order that was originally intended. I haven't gone back to check myself, but it's been pointed out they mixed up the outfits from one scene to the next in some eps.

And now that they've killed off characters they can't go back and plug the gaps. I want to call a do over on the first two seasons. Make them 22 eps each or make each episode 2 hrs long. *nods*

Bring back all of the original characters, take the time to think through the scripts so they actually make sense, write the characters with actual personalities that don't make them come off like comic book characters, put the eps in the correct order chronologically and then LEAVE THEM THERE, plug the plot holes, make it 26 eps long like we have in the US so you have time for actual plot...and actually...I think the only way it would work is if they hired all of you fanfic writers cuz otherwise, you and I both know there just AIN'T NO WAY!
Especially after CoE, which I've heard said was a script written by RTD long before, that he couldn't sell and the only way he could get it made was to shoehorn TW into it, so that's exactly what he did. Watching that monstrosity, (excuse me, of course I meant to agree with all the "people in the know" and call it a "Masterpiece") it's much easier to believe that, than that they meant it to be a totally different show with the TW characters thrown in, having to try to make the characterizations fit those they had been playing for two seasons before, and everyone coming across like cardboard cutouts instead of real people.
So there! Damn Girl, you avoided your rant and I went on mine anyway! But, at least, I think, we're actually agreeing on what we're actually talking about. Would you believe it's actually 1am here and I'm actually going to shut the hell up now and go to bed? Actually?

But going back and seeing Seasons 1 & 2, it's just such a change from what was originally happening that I just... I was like WTF? Like seriously WTF? Not only have you killed off half the cast, but you've changed format? What the fucking hell is wrong with you?
There are so many questions I have left over from seasons 1 & 2 that we'll never have answered, and it's such a shame because from all that I've read and pieced together over the last 6 months, RTD was so split between Doctor Who and Torchwood that he ended up not giving TW much focus at all until Season 3 anyway and then gave us this 5 episode monstrocity which can I reiterate killed off my favourite character after making me fall in love with him and his lover (god I love John Barrowman and Gareth David-Lloyd, Seriously I cannot express how much). But I get so bipolar about the whole thing. I like COE because it brought me to TW, but at the same time, after seeing the whole series as it was run, it doesn't fucking fit. It doesn't! And it drives me insane how disjointed and sometimes halfassed it comes across as in the writing when it could have been SO MUCH MORE. There are moments of GENIUS and then there's BLAH.
It's like Doctor Who. I adored David Tennant as Doctor Who, and I thought no one would ever beat David as the Doctor, he was it for me and that was it. Done, finished zip. Underlined, end of story.
And then Matt fucking Smith and season 6. SEASON FUCKING SIX and the GENIUS of Steven Moffatt and Matt is fucking amazing and I ended up going back and rewatching season 5 again and falling in love with Matt's subtleties and his deliveries and everything but the change in the writing... the change in the writing is so evident I can't even begin to describe how wonderful it is this season. It's smart, and fresh and oh so fucking wonderful and it's a complete MINDFUCK every episode. It's delicious! It's like a mudcake for your mind that you sink your teeth into.
I'm hoping that Torchwood: Miracle Day will be like that this season. They're hyping it up so much, and I just hope beyond hope that it lives up to the hype. I really do. Because man... I tell you... I swore I wasn't going to watch when Ianto died. But I told myself that Captain Jack was still there, and as long as Jack is there, I had to go back. So for Jack... and for John's sake... I really want it to be good.
And I've COMPLETELY gone off track. HAH!

I can't even imagine being introduced to TW with CoE. I really doubt I would watched another minute of it after that. We started with the new Who and followed John to Torchwood, which is where we met the lovely Ianto Jones. The whole Jack/Ianto storyline is one of the main reasons we watched CoE. We saw how that turned out.
John, God love him, is a like a 5 year old given 50 years worth of birthday cake, and ice cream, all at once. He loves his Doctor and his Captain Jack, and who could really blame him. It is his dream come true. And it's not like they can just replace him in the role, like they do the Doctor, cuz there's only one Jack Harkness, forever, and that's JB.
John is so thrilled with the whole thing he's just going to keep selling it till the cows come home. The problem is, I keep hearing exactly the same things as they threw at us with CoE. "So exciting, it's gonna knock your socks off and have you speechless. Everyone's going to get exactly what they want." If what you wanted was a show where the main characters seemed to have been thrown in as an afterthought just so they could use the show's name, then yes. But I really wanted to see Torchwood. And as shallow as it may make me sound, I quite enjoy getting attached to the characters and knowing they're going to be there season after season.
TW:MD has Jack coming back because of "his love for Gwen" and by all accounts, including those coming from John, shagging his way across the globe, 'cause that's what Jack does. Because Jack is a shallow SOB who only knows how to think with one head and it's not the one with the brain. I thought it was supposed to have been part of the growth of his character to show that he was more than that, that he'd matured. Or maybe not. Either way, I'm more worried by what I'm hearing than excited. I guess time will tell.
And now I really AM going to bed!

And I think that's why it was SUCH a shock to go from David to Matt, but I'm really, really glad I've given Matt a chance because now I adore him just as much as I did David's Doctor as well. And Amy's grown on me as well. I love hear and River as much as I love Donna, which is pretty fucking much I can tell you!
But yes, I love both JB and GDL just as much as each other and they both sing, and act and JB can dance as well... and when I found out that JB got his break into acting/showbiz by playing Billy Crocker in "Anything Goes"... well, that was it. I was done. Madly, irrevocably in love with his work. Just utterly in love. "Anything Goes" is tied with "Phantom Of The Opera" as my favourite musicals and he's been in both and I only WISH I'd had the opportunity to see him on stage in both. But you know, I was like 10 when he played Billy so yeah, but anyway. Still. *DIES*
IDEK about TWMD. I'm going to give it a chance. I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I really am. *FINGERS CROSSED*

Looks like we're opposites in what we've seen. I haven't seen any of Doctor Who after David's last one, in which I absolutely hated, with a passion, the bar scene where the Doctor hands Alonso off to Jack like a cheap piece of meat and Jack goes into Flirty Captain Shallow Slut mode as if the whole thing with the 456, Ianto dying and him sacrificing Stephen never happened and Ianto had meant nothing to him. That is one part of JB's interview afterward at Comic Con that really pissed me off, no matter how much I like him. His cavalier attitude about how the season's over, Ianto's dead and Jack needs to find himself a new shag. I wanted to slap him so badly.
Anyway, what this was leading to is:
1)I really need to pick up where I left off on my Whoniverse and check out what I've heard is a spectacular job as the Doctor by Matt Smith. I guess, since my job is seasonal and we just finished up today so I'm off till Sept, now might be a good time. My daughter did have them all tivo'ed, but I'll have to see if she still has them.
And 2) I'm interested to see how they're going to transition from the last season to the next, unless they do like I've heard and just pretty much ignore everything up to now like there was no series before this one.
On a side note, since you're 12 years younger than JB and I'm 6 years older, I am now feeling very old and decrepit! Of course, doing a 9 1/2 hr hard push at work today to finish up so we didn't have to go back tomorrow could have something to do with it. LOL

And then I wrote Time Verse. I swear, it's all kajmere's fault!! I lost a bet on hockey, Time Verse was written and stupid me wrote Eleven in the fic, because it wouldn't be cliche - everyone wrote Ten.
And everytime I wrote The Doctor it came out Ten. I wanted to strangle the Doctor and his bowtie and his mismatched tweed suit with his skinny pants and his boots and his fast talking mouth and after having to rewatch season 5, I found myself falling in love with Matt Smith and his "I wear a bowtie now, bowties are cool." And his jammy dodgers, and needing a hat everywhere he goes and his ridiculous love of processed food, his dancing like a monkey and the beautiful awkward flirtation with River Song, who I want to be when I grow up nevermind I'm already 31.
I am properly, properly cheating on Ten with Eleven and I LOVE IT. I revel in it. You can't help it, and season six is just one mindfuck after the next. Seriously you will not regret watching it. Even Amy and Rory grow on you. They will. I promise.
And I absolutely adore talking to you about this stuff. :)

My girls watch things that I'll watch with them sometimes, since everything can be tivo'ed now. They watch Glee, Project Runway, American Idol, Castle, SPN, CSI, Fringe, Burn Notice, Buffy, LOTS of Jeopardy.
Really do need to catch up on what the Doctor is up to now, I guess. But, although I will go back to watch David's last ones, I have no desire what so ever to see "The Waters of Mars". *Shudders* Saw enough previews and snippets to decide that. I will watch the rest though.
