Hmm...kind of torn on this one. It seems to me that Ianto just gave in way to quickly there and I really don't think he would've let Jack off the hook that easily, getting all lovey dovey just because Jack kissed him. He's neither stupid nor shallow and I don't think he's that much of a push over, even for Jack. He'd have to be pretty gullible to believe Jack had a change of heart in what, fifteen minutes?

And I doubt after how badly Jack just hurt him, he'd be falling into Jack's bed for hot and heavy sex. I'd like to think, since you didn't exactly say, that Ianto's footsteps were headed in the opposite direction. After all, Jack's not the only one who can cheat and I think Jack needs to do a whole lot more groveling and kissing up before he's forgiven for that disgusting little display with Gwen.

Notice he didn't answer the question? Ianto deflected Jack with sex. He's not going to punish him by treating him like a female would. He's a guy. Guys will give in to sex. They're wired differently to females.

Saying that, I made it clear that Ianto believes Jack when he says that Jack is not seeing anyone else. He never agreed with Jack that he believes him that he doesn't want Gwen. He knows he does. He's offered proof. Jack's now aware that Ianto is aware of his feelings.

Jack has to make it up to him. And he will. You trust me, right? *hint*

Sorry! I didn't mean that to sound so critical, or bitchy. That particular scene just always burns my ass! Poor little self-righteous Gwen goes on her little rant, insults everyone on the team, gives orders and ultimatums to Jack like she's Queen Shit and Jack, once again, rolls over like a bitch in heat! She stands there glaring at Jack, he stands there all teary-eyed and Ianto stands behind him HOLDING HIS WATER ( ... )

LOL I didn't think it was particularly bitchy or critical, you were expressing your opinion, which you are absolutely entitled to have. And I adore the fact that we can discuss it like this!

Gwen makes me go GRRRR too!!! (I do adore Eve but Gwen in season 1 & 2 she was particlarly annoying and whiney, to the point of self-centerered and self-righteous, and I too hated the fact that Jack rolled over like a dog in heat. But what can you do?)

I'm already halfway through writing a followup to this fic, but from Ianto's POV (set after this one) so perhaps this will give more insight into why I ended it with the quick give-in.

The other thing to keep in mind is... Ianto has Jack already, however tenuous that hold is. And that hold he has is with sex. If he saw that position threatened, the last thing he's going to do is give up the one thing that Jack comes to him for if he wants to keep Jack...

I'm very relieved that I didn't do irreparable damage to our relationship. Oh no, wait, that's Jack and Ianto. LOL. I know I don't always come across the way I mean to, so sometimes I have to check to make sure.

I quite agree with you as far as Eve goes, love the actress but hate the way they wrote Gwen. Eve interacts so well with Kai, but when they try to ram Eve and John together in a UST filled scene, it just doesn't work, maybe because they're like siblings in RL, they just can't do the whole "wannabe lovers" thing. I don't know.

I do understand Ianto's point of view here and if anyone knows how to play Jack's game, it's Ianto. I just wish he didn't have to.

Oh no, no damage done! I like constructive feedback, and dialogue with my readers to dissect characterisation is always fun. I like getting other people's points of view as it expands my own horizons.

I agree that I wish Ianto didn't have to either, but at the same time, I still feel like I don't think he's 100% comfortable with his own sexuality at this point either. He's still unsure of everything, especially where they stand. So, he takes what Jack gives him and goes from there. Whether it's right or wrong, it is what it is.

Very valid point. Even in S3 their relationship seemed a little...odd, strained, undefined? Even with them talking about being a couple the intimate moments between them seemed forced and stiff. And when Ianto talked to his sister he was still floundering. So it does make perfect sense that he's very uncertain at this point where they stand.

Okay, I'm sold. You may, of course, continue writing to convince me further.
