I realized after talking to a new friend I just made that I haven't made a post about my travels.

Almost every summer my mom would send me away somewhere. I understand being a single mom is hard and her wanting a break and all. In this conversation this friend I was talking to mentioned "Why didn't she just send you off to boarding school?" Now that I look back I wish she had instead of putting me through all the abuse.

Since I was 4 I have been coming out to the Seattle/Tacoma, Washington area to visith my family. Of course when I was really little my mom would come, and either stay behind at the house and let my family take me places or begrugingly come a long for whatever activities were planned.

As I got older she would escort me to a plane for a non-stop flight, the attendant would help me find my seat, then make sure I got off and found my family ok. As I got even older I was able to make Layovers even. That's how that went for every 2-3 years either at christmas or summer time.

During the summers starting in elementary school I went to Girl Scout camp, or away to band camp starting in middle school.

Middle school in 2006 I went to the UK and Ireland with a Student ambassador program. for over a month. We traveled all over via bus and ferry. Stayed in Hotels and youth hostels. I was only allowed to pack one VERY small suitcase and a backpack provided by them. I had to wear this silly purple shirt announcing that we were in a travel group together. we saw 12 castles most of them in ruins. I knew none of the kids i traveled with prior to the few meetings we had before the trip. Basically it was a very interesting life experience. I hope to make some of the same destinations again some day on my own. Without having to travel in a tour group.

After that trip I made a trip every summer with a band called the Squires Warren Junior Military Band. We toured the midwest and competed in concert and marching band. Before tour we had a 1.5 week long band camp. Prior to band camp we had Mini-camps on weekends for 3 months to prepare ourselves for competition.

That was one of the greatest experiences of my life. I made many great friends whom of which i am still in contact with. It was hard work. We were in the field every day from sun up till sun down. With the exception of during high noon where we practiced for concert so we didn't die in the heat. I was in that band from 1996-1999

In high school band following Military band tour (i got a two week break) we started band camp then right into band nights (kinda like competition without scores) on into football season... then into concert season. etc etc. We traveled a lot for that.

One year we marched at Disney in Florida in FULL uniform. As soon as we passed the gates parents were grabbing our instruments making us strip and handing us water so no one would pass out.

I also traveled to other various destintions on family trips for this or that. My uncles graduation at the Naval Acadamy when i was in 2nd grade. I got to go on one of the smaller air craft carriers and see the Blue Angels fly.

Again when he got promoted in San Diego he took me on the U.S.S Kitty Hawk. when I was a bit older.

Now that I'm older and can't afford to pay for my own trips as often. it's hard cause the travel bug still bites. Honestly i've put more miles on my car that I should have...

Like in October I want to drive down to SoCal for SubieFest like I did last year with some friends. Just the thrill of the open road a cooler full of beverages and snacks and a backpack full of clothes!
