It seems like it has been forever since I last was able to have some play time. I miss chatting with my friends so much and I very much miss my drabble writing. This last week has once again been hectic.
Hubs and I decided on our Christmas gift to each other - lights in the kitchen and tickets to the Rodeo finals. While this may not seem too romantic, it worked for us. When we moved into this house three years ago, I completely gutted the kitchen and redid it from floor to ceiling. The only problem was the lights. My re-design left only one light and it was at the end of the kitchen; zero light for working. Since hubs was working out of the country for the last 3 years, I had to wait. My wait is over. This last week we installed five (4’) ballasts with fluorescent lighting. *happy dance* I can now see in my kitchen *more happy dancing*. (I may even want more put in *wink*) Now all we have to do is save up so we can install the drop ceiling that we want. I’m rather patient, so I can wait. I’m just so thrilled that I have lights now.
So, we got that task completed, then took an entire day cleaning up the mess and getting the kitchen spit spot shiny. What a mess there was! The next day we headed to the city for the Rodeo finals. It was the amateur finals rather than the professional finals, but that’s okay - it was a great time and a great performance. After that we spent the rest of the weekend with relatives. Hubs uncle had just returned from the hospital (operation) so we stayed to harass help and visit with them.
I might have had some time to play yesterday if my car hadn’t broke down while I was in town. Needless to say my shopping didn’t get completed, and I’m not even sure when I’ll have time to go again - maybe sometime next week. You see, my hubs now has my every day this week planned out - and the weekend. It seems we are going away once again. Grrrrrrrr!
Today is the only day I have to get a long list of chores completed - and to be perfectly honest, I’m not sure I will accomplish all of the tasks within my timeframe. Double Grrrrrrrr!
One of my chores today is to once again shovel the sidewalk and driveway. This has been a daily chore for days now since it hasn’t stopped snowing. Triple Grrrrrrrr!. Although I am quite fed up with shovelling snow already (since winter started here in the first week of Oct - two months early), I will do it because it has to be done. But, I repeat BUT, because of the dreadful cold snap that has engulfed us, I will not be happy about it in the least.
Today we might, I repeat, might reach a high of -17°C and our lows have been in the -30°C to -40°C (not including the windshield factor). Feels like I’m living in the bloody north pole. I’d better check to see if polar bears are wandering the neighbourhood.
How it can snow when it is that dreadfully cold is beyond me! It is just not right!
Well - that’s about all I’m going to whine about today. I’d better start with my list before I decide to just crawl back into bed and forget today is happening. Hopefully sometime next week I can squeeze in some play time.*fingers crossed* (Either that or ship hubs to another country for a few weeks *wink*)
