So the newest fun at work is this:
If I don't somehow make 90% of my customers over the next month order a real drink instead of just water, I'm fired. Actually everyone has a "goal percetage" to meet or they are canned. Mine just happens to be the highest. Right now I'm hovering around 65%.
The point of it is that "suggestive selling" is supposed to work. According to the marketing people, consumers are infinitely suggestible and merely mentioning Coca-Cola Classic at the outset of thier dining experience will make them salivate for one, so obviously, if a server isn't selling a lot of sodas, they aren't suggetive-selling! And suggestive selling is a requirement of our jobs. So not doing it means you aren't doing your job. So not doing it means you're fired.
I do suggestively-sell things, but that doesn't seem to stop, oh approximately 40 - 60% of the people I deal with from just ordering water... Hmmm, the marketing drones said this is supposed to work. What's wrong with me!
Since I can't think of anyway of forcing tired, thirsty, poor, drunk clubbers to actually shell out the funds for a soda rather than the free water, aside from bringing a gun to work and coercing them, does anyone know of any restaraunts looking for summer help?
