Will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms and sway me like the sea...
Back to updating because I'm afraid to get massage oil on my book.
I started this book that I was supposed to have read for African Lit, but since I had like 145952 pages to read in other subjects, I decided to BS my way, get the A and then read the book during the summer. It is FANTASTIC. Half of a Yellow Sun is incredible. It's written by a Nigerian-American chica and it focuses on Nigerian Independence in the late 1960s.
In other news, I feel like a very responsible parent. I went to my dad's and organized his kitchen cupboards and washed the dishes, made a list of stuff he needs help with and was on my way to dinner plans with a large group of friends. This is after digging up a volunteer tree, replanting an orange tree that didn't like its original location and pulling a bunch of potato plants that seem to grow very freely in my yard. Only about half a mile more to weed o_O.
I got to babysit the little girl that people keep thinking is mine. She's more coherent now than she used to be and we really missed each other. And she's 6. Heh, I must be very sentimental. First grade taught her A LOT so now she's easy to talk to, can tell me what she wants and responds willingly to light conversation. Very different from last year.
So I'm going back to old clientell instead of finding new kiddos to babysit. I think I like this better because the parents already know and trust me and don't feel like they need to tell me as much as they tell the newbies. Not to mention, the kids recognize me when I pick them up from camps, so the workers at the camps look at me slightly less suspiciously.
Midterm tomorrow. On a Sunday afternoon, I get to pull up a chair at Common Grounds, get myself some Chai and crunch through my paper. It's a timed test and thanks to Ms. O'Keefe, I think I might enjoy this one.
*sigh* time to do something productive.
