Hi all! *waves* No, I haven't disappeared off the face of the earth. I've just been playing hard to get. Actually, I think I'm in a bit of a post-holiday funk, and I haven't spent more than a few minutes a day on my computer. I'm not sure why that is. Hopefully, I'll be back to normal (whatever that is) soon.
Re: Haiti - The situation there is so incredibly sad. I'm not silly enough to try to offer anything at
help_haiti because it would never get done, but I may try to volunteer at a local organization called Feed My Starving Children which packages food to be sent to orphanages in poor nations and sends a lot of food to Haiti. It's just heartbreaking to think about it.
I've been spending quite a bit of time working on my house. The new room is nearly finished. We decided the old woodwork looked shabby next to the new woodwork we just installed, so I'm stripping and staining and varnishing that now. Hubby is going to put up the curtain rod this weekend and I have one more coat of varnish on one of the doors - then we can install those. We have done some furniture shopping and have acquired a couple of things, but it will probably be several weeks before it's put together in the way we want it.
Tonight I just decided what I want to do with the small bathroom downstairs - it should only take a day or two to paint, and I think it will be really neat. I might start that tomorrow. I have been watching HGTV home design shows lately and have some really cool ideas that might work for the other space downstairs. We need to clear all the junk out of it first, though.
On Sunday, my sister and I are taking our sons to the Vikings-Cowboys football playoff game. I am very excited, as it's been a couple of years since I've been to a game, and almost a decade since I've been to a playoff game, and my son has never been to one. With apologies to my New Orleans friends, I really am hoping the Saints lose and the Vikings win. If this happens, then I will sell my four tickets to the NFC championship game for a lot of money which will then finance our next family vacation (or possibly my next trip to London). If the Saints win, then the game will be in New Orleans and my tickets won't be worth the paper they're printed on.
Not much else of interest is going on here. My days are full, but not really post-worthy. One of these days, I have to go out and get a life.
