So, after leaving Hubby's grandma's 90th birthday party, Daughter and I went home, picked up her costumes, stopped at Subway for sandwiches to go and drove over to St. Paul for her final dance competition of the season. We didn't leave as early as we'd planned, but she already had some of her make-up on, so I wasn't concerned. As soon as we walked into the building, her teammates converge on us - they're running an hour early, at least, and we're supposed to go on within the next 20 minutes! Well, Daughter was only the 6th of 11 to arrive, so it ended up being more like 40 minutes - the last girl to get there had about two minutes to put on her costume. Then they proceeded to go out and absolutely nail the dance! They ended up third overall in the ballet category, plus they got a special award for staging. Then they had about ten minutes to change into their Batman costumes (Daughter plays "Batgirl" - we bought a picture at the last competition, but Hubby keeps forgetting to scan it at work), so it was rush, rush, rush. And they mostly nailed that one, too. Well, Daughter did. They must have done something wrong, because it didn't get in the highest category, but overall they were pleased. They got a special award (silly judging award) for that one too - "Pimp My Ride"! (They apparently liked the Batmobile.) The other two dances were not the best they've performed them, but personally, Daughter did well, and she was pleased. Yay! No more dance competitions!
Son had his first baseball game yesterday - his team is the Red Sox and they played the Yankees. Final score 4 - 4 tie. Hee - no one seems to be able to throw to a leftie - he walked every time he was up to bat. At age 9, any way to get on base is a good way.
Happy Mother's Day to anyone who qualifies. To my non-US mother friends - Happy American Mother's Day! My sister's family and my family are meeting over at my mom's house today for drinks, and then Hubby is going to take our family and mom out for dinner. I need to run to the mall today and get my mom a present. D'oh!
Today's task is pricing for the garage sale I'm having Thursday - Saturday. It has evolved into quite the Big Deal. *headdesk* At this point, I just want the junk out of my house, so I'm pricing everything to sell. Heh - yesterday as Daughter and I were leaving our house, a lady came by wondering if we were the house that had a bike for sale in a garage sale a few weeks ago. I told her that was my next door neighbor who had the sale, but that I was selling a bike in my garage sale next week. She's probably coming back to buy it from me on Tuesday, so Yay!!
