Post-Metrocon, Post-Kal Visit life...and stuff

Jul 23, 2008 19:03

Today I went to tea-restock at the mall with the roomies, and we found the Toph and Iroh cosplayers from Metrocon working there. Also, I went Goodwill shopsing in hopes of finding what I peeked at during Kal's masquerade-wear hunt....and it was still there. So! Now I've got a wetsuit base for my WIP Replica Riku cosplay that juuuust barely fits me. For 13 dollah. Score! Now for bootcovers and armthingies and foam latex molds for the frontpiece. Oh yeah, and Soul Eater.

AFO's dance is Faefolk masquerade themed! So it looks like I'll be whipping out the Exalted Cosplay again (oh god it looks so fantastic, Kate is amazing).

Kal was with me for ten whole days that went by far too soon. I really really miss her. Like uberly miss. She was a natural fit in the house. And comfy to be around. And made me smile, and laugh, and feel like the very best of myself...I hope this year hurries itself along with good fortune.

Metrocon was even more a blast than last year, and I think it's because I've gotten ohsochill with the convention scene. Highlights:

-  Our silly boys David and Brendan pulling off a FANTASTIC last minute Wario and Waluigi.

- AVATAR STUFF. Oh. My god. It was so worth missing the finale for this cast. The fightshow was awesome and the scripting was witty and spot on for characterization, and the swampbenders were ttly entertaining lads, and Shirtless Hakoda was good eye candy, and me and Kate were great crowd-hecklers ("Better get her another Fruit Tart, Zuzu!")

- Xemnas. In Chessmatch. 'Nuff said. It made up for the  Dark Prince/Dark Link fight lasting a whole of 60 seconds

- Getting to walk around the con In-Character as Zhu Ting and bantering with the roommates...finding HOOKSWORDS at last! Purchasing them!

- Meeting up with the chessmatch Dancer Nobody, singing another round of Sora Rhapsody on camera, and starting an impromptu dance party in the hall upstairs. Demyx is so my popular inner child.

-Rave. After we finally got in, that is. Metrocon's got the best Rave setup ever. And I look awesome under blacklight, if I do say so myself. I sort of got pedogrinded by Edward, but...even that was a little more fun than I want to admit. Dani!Sora and me got down hardcore.

- Having my picture taken in the Punk!Dem wearz by a bunch of flugtaggers on the Bridge while walking to Publix. I know lots of people got harassed by the drunken Flutag crowd, but...they seemed to adore me? It's such a spiff cosplay! And so comfy to rave in! And I can fit the world in those pockets.

- I am eternally grateful my Ienzo wig is so easy to doze off in. By Sunday I am all but conshot. And I liked having an Other to curl up with.

Regrets...that conflict avoidance kept me shy-off from my usual congoing social circles, and I missed a panel that could have been good fandom lulz. And that I was paranoid about running into particular individuals...had a bad dream about it Friday night. Woke up at 7am on Saturday and couldn't get back to sleep, so I paced around the kitchen and had some coffee and did some yoga and then all was cool. I should have gone to panels and got more Rising Sun pictures, but...I camera whored it up enough in the halls.
