The Stuff That Ate My Desk!
I brought Darthcam to work today because I wanted to play a little with capturing some "me at work" footage (which turned out to be boring as hell, but that's another story), and I was playing with the close focus and depth of field to see how it would work with miniatures. Without having any control over the lighting, I have to say I'm pretty impressed, though learning to work with the focus range is gonna be a learning curve. To give you an example, the Exhumation In Progress sign is maybe an inch wide, and the skull on the column in the first picture is about 3/16" wide. The camera is actually so close that it's casting a shadow on the "trespassers will be eaten" sign-- I think the closest edge of the sign is actually within the lens hood.
And I did play with the images a little to give them a darker old horror movie look. I think that's reasonable because in a movie I'd be doing image processing on individual scenes anyway.
Still, a little bit of fun for a weekend.
