I will be so happy when it's all said and done. I should have avoided the internet for the last few weeks, because there are McCain supporters who seem bound and determined to troll and antagonize me just because my vote is being cast for Obama.
I have been called a racist, a baby-hater/eater, a supporter of one who eats babies, a terrorist lover, a terrorist sympathizer, un-patriotic, un-American, a freedom hater, and a socialist.
I'm fucking sick of it. This is the goddamned United States of America. Emphasis on UNITED. However, I have seen little to no unity in the last month as the major candidates race to the Oval Office. My vote is being cast the way it is due to my moral, ethical, and logical beliefs. Obama has run a straight campaign, refuting points from the Republicans, but not openly slinging mud. It has been refreshing, because I simply get tired of mudslinging ads. McCain and his supporters have done nothing but try to sully Obama. The tactics are the same, taking things from the past out of context and blowing them out of proportion to make him seem worse than he actually is. The Republicans have stopped at nothing to try and win this election, because the only thing that matters to them, it seems, is winning.
I would just like to tell those out there who have slandered and libeled Obama and his supporters that, contrary to your belief that we "Liberal extremist nuts" are ruining the nation with notions of equality, it is you who is doing just that. We as a nation, as a people, need to change and adapt to the world. We cannot simply stand here and demand that the world do as we command. Yes, we are the United States, yes, we are one of the best countries in the world to live in, no, we are not the end all be all rulers of the world. The fight against change in work practices, health care, and education are choking this nation to death.
I don't care how the election today goes, at this point. I would prefer to see Barack Obama swear in on January, but if John McCain wins, I will try and put as much faith behind him as I can, and hope for the best. I don't slander your candidate, nameless Republicans, because I believe in unity. I want the country to be able to work together to achieve the impossible, but the rest of the country seems to be against me.
I will continue my struggle of acceptance and equality to all beliefs, so that I can do my small part to keep this nation's people together. We are tearing away at the seams that bind our nation together, and I will regret the day we split, if it happens during my lifetime.
Good luck to both candidates today, and may God/Allah/Yah-weh/FSM/whoever the fuck scientologists believe in/Zeus/Thor/Odin/no god at all bless the United States of America.
