Today I talked
legendofthehawk into taking a road trip tomorrow with the little bean, her sister ladysprite and I. I boldly informed her that I would purchase a car seat on my way home from work and install it in the car tonight. This would allow us to speed on our way in the morning without playing the dreaded "must move the car seat" game. I had an infant seat base in my car but Nathan has now outgrown that and is ready for a *big* car seat. Since I try to Kidnap err...babysit him whenever possible it will be a good investment.
I spent my lunch hour diligently researching car seats at the locations I considered shopping. Having finally found one with many good reviews and 5 stars I headed straight there after work. Let me just state that almost all the reviews mentioned how easy the seat was to install. Er....compared to what? Building a space station???? They could probably hear me screaming all the way at my mother's in Southern Illinois. I read the entire directions in English and then- even though I dont speak spanish...I read through those too. I thought since I wasnt understanding the English directions very well perhaps the pictures in the Spanish version would make more sense. NOT!!!
Finally after an hour of sweating and cussing....I AM VICTORIOUS!!!! The seat is securely installed in my vehicle and totally baby ready. I tugged and pulled every which way to make sure it was secure.
Grandmothers...dont try this at home! I highly recommend that you purchase a car seat well in advance of a planned outing. Then take your vehicle and said car seat over to the childs parent house. Let them install it :) Ah but hindsight is always 20/20.
