You know there are parts of home ownership that I enjoy and then there are parts that drive me batty. Dealing with "Home Warranty Companies" is one of them.
In the time we have owned our home (1 year) we have done enough DIY repairs & called American Home Shield (and paid there deductibles/service fees) enough times for the same damn problem that KEEPS reoccurring! Now that our coverage with AHS has expired we are no longer covered (even though they never did fix our problem) I have to go through to headache trying to find someone trustworthy and affordable to figure out our issue and fix it. So I have spent two days straight calling companies, getting phone estimates, getting in home estimates, and whatnot. All that time and money wasted before could have been better spent fixing the problem RIGHT the first time; when we were only 2 months into owning the home and likely could have been reimbursed since plumbing was an issue the seller was supposed to have repaired before sale. Yeah.
So now that the hard part is done work can continue. This afternoon a plumber will be by to cut a hole into DJ's bedroom to gain access to the pipes that need to be cut out and replaced, the system will be snaked and hopefully THIS issue will finally be resolved. And it is costing us as much to repair it this time as we have already put into it... actually it will likely come in a bit less than what we've already spent. *sighs*
Live and Learn I guess.
...and yeah
... that delightful smell
... I will be so happy when it is gone and I can take a bath in my tub without fear of the kitchen waste water joining my soak!

And if you ever wondered if
"Angie's List" was worth the money... HANDS DOWN it is! I wish I had looked at the company (AHS) that the previous homeowner had selected for our "warranty coverage" through their site before we finalized our sale! I could have fought for a different company with much better ratings and a better coverage plan.
At least now I was able to find plumbers with reputations, reviews, and whatnot in far less time! The three companies we had out to do in-home estimates were all amazing, honest, and willing to work within our needs with no questions asked! I am an Angie's List convert now!
