"A psychological study demonstrated that red promotes cautious motivation, which is conducive to tasks that require attention to detail. By contrast, blue promotes an exploratory motivational state, which is conducive to creativity."

What paralyzes your creativity? What fuels it?

Chaos, disorganization, gray hazy weather, and silence paralyzes my creative process. I find that on cold rainy days all I want to do is curl up with a good book or cuddle with one of my loved ones and that I rarely get my creative endeavors met. The things that fuel my creative process is bright & sunny days (not hot though), bright white lights (if I must use artificial light), lots of music, and an organized & brightly colored space. I also find that when it is night time my creativity also flows well... as if the blackness outside gives me some sort of mental blank canvas. Just ask my husband how many times I have started a project after dinner and stayed up until the sun came up working on the same project... especially writing, sewing, or editing my photos. LOL!

Aside from painting the rooms in the house, spacial planning, and all of that jazz I really have not been creative in our new home. Well I take that back... in the kitchen I have been whipping up some mad culinary genius... but as far as my art goes... I have not done much. Mostly because my art supplies were still packed and the room we dedicated for my art space was full of random junk we didn't know what to do with as we started unpacking the house and "moving in." So last week I set myself to the task of emptying that space, using some of the random paints we have laying around from the wall painting party, and coming up with a fun color scheme for my craft room.

It's a small room in the basement under the stairs. It only has one window and it's ground level in my rose garden so not much natural light; I knew I needed a bright and colorful space to be creative so I went bold. I ended up painting the walls a bright teal, the ceiling bright white, and the trim and shelving a butternut squash yellow. The floor will end up being cleaned, given "tooth" (its bare cement), and then painted/water sealed with a deep purple color. It feels very tropical and one day I may repaint it all but for right now I like it. We still need to do the floors (hopefully this weekend) and finish the ceiling but I got it to the point where I could unpack my art supplies and start working on some projects again. I need to do something since school didn't work out and I am applying for jobs left and right.
So anyways... I have probably 30 projects or so in various states of progress so that should keep me busy for awhile... or at least until I find a job or next term starts. *fingers crossed*
