[Vintage Punk] Royal Cascadian Airship Captain
Just dumping some photos into this post of one of the costumes I made for SteamCon this year... I am not sure if this one is finished or if I am going to do more tweaking** to it but the original concept was that the people of the Pacific Northwest didn't like how the rest of the continent was going politically and they broke off and formed their own country called Cascadia with a royal governing body. They formed their own Air and Sea Navy as well as an Army to defend themselves. Oregon, western Washington, and the western part of Canada (drawing a line from the Cascade Mountains northward), and Alaska all broke off together. LOL
I didn't go much further than that storyline wise b/c frankly pulling together 3 costumes for my husband and son each as well as 2 last minute outfits for my friend proved to be draining on my time and creativity.
**The tweaking that I am considering is a modification to the jacket which is an older women's AF Academy outer jacket (fully lined and very warm). I am very short (as you can see when I stand next to some very tall guys at SteamCon who were also various other shiplike captains) so when the jacket is closed you cannot see my pants between the height of the boots and the length of the coat. So I am considering shortening just the front of the jacket and tapering it back some or leaving the back long in the form of tails or something? *shrugs shoulders* I am going to consult a seamstress friend of mine first and she if it's possible on regular machines.
