*tears falling* Another friend, husband, father, son, and soldier gone...

Oh My Gods...

I sit here balling my eyes out because yet another soldier that I know has left this earthly plain. On 2 November 2006, Joseph Gage was killed in action when his HumV encountered a roadside bomb. Joe was a lot to many people and he will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife and child at Fort Campbell, KY. Sam, Joe, and Mikey were my neighbors at Fort Campbell and we grew to know and love them for everything that they were and everything they weren't. Unlike some military families they were far from uptight... they accepted us for who we were and I can never thank them enough for that! Shoot- just finding another family from Michigan was nice! We had so many laughs over the past year and right now more than anything I wish I was "back home" so I could lend my shoulder and my heart to them right now in their time of need.

PLEASE take a few minutes and think about all of the service members and their families, and not just because it's Veteran's weekend, but because it is THESE PEOPLE who sacrifice the most for our freedom, liberty, and safety!

You can see the tribute Sam has up for her husband at MySpace: NookieBear and his page is... MySpace: Joe... she left it as he last updated, she only added a blub about his death on his page.

Do Not Stand At My Grave and Weep
Author: Mary E. Frye

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.

"Pain is a part of being alive, and we need to learn that. Pain does not last forever, nor is it necessarily unbeatable, and we need to be taught that."
