Belated Friday Five

from the altfriday5:

1. Which is the best birthday you've ever had? Why? The first birthday that I had after Jim and I got married... I thought it was going to be the WORST since Jim was deployed for it but it ended up being one of my most memorable! He had prearranged for his best friend, Isaac, to take me out on the town for my birthday. He was so sweet, he picked me up, took me to dinner, we picked up a bunch of movies and went back to his barracks and watched them until I feel asleep! He was such a gentleman too, he put me on the bed, and he took the couch. Of course, when I left in the morning, the rumors started flying around the unit about our torrid affair! LOL! It was too darn funny, I took the "walk of shame" from my "Best Man's" barracks room that morning! LOL! (He was our best man at our wedding!)

2. Which is the worst birthday you've ever had? Why?
Last year... I had just had my WLS surgery about 2 weeks before that so I was still eating soups, cottage cheese, and even the smell of sugar made me sick. So I spent the whole day on the couch watching TV. No one even "remembered" my birthday b/c they were all confused (and some admitted they were too afraid) on how to do it without cake, ice cream, and a party. LOL! Therefore, it was a lonely one.

3. What do you expect to have happen on a typical birthday? (i.e., you expect to get presents, you expect people to wish you a happy birthday, you expect to have a party, etc.) How do you feel if these expectations are not met?
A few things have been a tradition in my family so when those do not come true I tend to feel a little blue and homesick. It's our family tradition that the birthday girl gets fresh flowers numbering her year of age (daddy usually buys these), dinner of her choice, dessert of her choice (not necessarily cake all of the time), and then an evening of fun and games... yes board games, card games, you name it. It was always simple family fun around our house come birthday time! Sometimes we got traditional gifts, sometimes we got special stuff... like one year I only got cards, and I was kind sad until mom presented me with yet another card and inside was tickets for PHANTOM! YEAH BABY! That was the BEST surprise!

4. How did your family celebrate your birthday when you were a child?
See above!

5. You have infinite amounts of all resources. Describe your ideal birthday.
I am a simple girl, I prefer things like they were growing up! LOL! Parties are fun too as long as I do not have to plan them or do the clean up! LOL! But if I had unlimited resources at my disposal I'd want to try and do a DISNEY vacation for my family and friends... go to all of the resorts, have a special dinner for everyone planned by the Disney party planners, the whole 9 yards! That way not only do I get to spend time with family and friends but each of them get to go home with a gift too... not many of my family and friends have ever been able to go to Disney so if I could afford to pay their way... that would freaking ROCK!!! And I think the only thing that would make it even better is if me and some of my friends (who love to cook) could go "behind the scenes" into the Disney kitchen and learn how to make those FABU cakes!!! Then we could all make our own! That would be so kewl!

Speaking of birthdays... I SUCK at remembering them so I have to use reminder thingies on my computer. Anyone know of a good software for remembering important dates and events? My MS Works used to have a great calendar function but my new puter uses Word, Office, and Outlook and I hate that Outlook doesn't use just ONE calendar... each of my freaking email accounts have a separate calendar and you have to log into your email to get the reminders.. I hate that! I want my computer to just tell me my reminders no matter what is running at the time. KWIM?

Hey and if you want me to remember your birthday then post a reply to this message with all the important dates so that I can write them down! LOL!

THIS HAS TO BE THE COOLEST ICE CREAM MAKER EVAR!!!!
Play & Freeze Ice Cream Maker

You put all the ingrediants in one end, close it, open the other end and put in rock salt and ice, close it, and then kick, toss, and throw the ball around the yard for 20 minutes... when you are done you have ice cream! THAT IS SO FREAKING KEWL!

birthday, altfriday5
