Okay, for those who are familiar with Buffy the Vampire Slayer canon, Tara's from just before "Seeing Red"(i.e. the episode where Tara dies.), where she skews.
That fateful morning, Warren Meers waved his gun around in the backyard of the Summers home, firing a random shot. A shot which hit Willow Rosenberg fatally.
Tara Maclay never saw Warren again, and somehow pushed on with the help of her surrogate family.
She continued at UC Sunnydale, where she finished a year and a half later (around Season 6) with a BA in Psychology and a Minor in Education.
After she graduated, She moved around the country with a good friend, Oz, having bonded over the death of their beloved Willow, and when they hit New Orleans, Oz moved on, but Tara heard of a Counselor position at Milieux Ecole, opening due to a recent death of a student.
