I think I'll do mittens, if that's cool with you. I've got a pattern for those.

3rd year is the one with the small gold stripes, 1st year is the even stripes.

I'll probably go with acrylic yarn, and I'll get back to you soon for pricing.

You know what would be cool, but I don't know if you can do it, is make one side the 3rd year with the small gold stripes and the other side the 1st year with the even stripes. If you can't do that that's totally fine. i'll go with the 3rd year one then.

I could, theoretically. It would use a *lot* of yarn, but then, so would either pattern, really. I'll consider it.

I think it would be best to go with the 3rd year one, overall, as far as expense and simplicity are concerned. Do you want a particularly large scarf (about 2 inches wider, 20 inches longer--keep in mind that the small one is almost 5 feet long as it is)?

And for the mittens, thin stripes like the scarf, or even stripes?

umm... how do you measure one's hand. They're not as big as some ppls' but i don't think they're exactly small either. :-|

I don't need exact measurements, just a general "small, medium, or large" assessment. Sounds like medium to me.
