Basically The Man - A Neville Fanmix
So, I've been working on this fanmix for AGES now, ever since I heard "The Rose" by Bette Midler, because it was such a Neville song and it spoke volumes to me. Then I thought that I hadn't seen any Neville fanmixes around, apart from Neville/Luna ones. And so I decided to make one just for Neville. However, it soon proved difficult as there were so many 'shippy' songs out there, so I extended the mix to include songs for Neville/Luna, AND Neville/Hannah, both ships I love dearly.
Included are four coverarts, lyrics, download links and short notes about why I picked the song/how I think it relates to Neville and/or the ship.
1. "Basically The Man" - The Butterbeer Experience

Notes: As soon as I heard this, I almost cried, because I could relate to it. But when I looked closer, it just screamed 'Neville' to me. It's a beautiful song, and the last lyrics read like a poem.

Notes: I wanted to find a song that reminded me of Neville being rebellious in the last book, and I think I hit the jackpot when I really listened to this song. I feel like he's saying to the Carrows/Snape, "I'm not like the others", and it means he's not going to give in, he's going to fight back and they'd better be ready for him :D "What if I say I will never surrender?"

Notes: Now, this is the metro mix version that can be found on the Australian single release. It's only a TEENSY bit different from the original, but I picked the remix because it's got gorgeous music in the background that sets the mood and tone of the lyrics so well. As soon as I heard it, I couldn't stop thinking about Neville/Luna! It's basically about him trying to deny that she's not the one for him, but he can't help but believe that she actually is.

Notes: I think this is in Neville's point of view, and I guess it's about both Neville and Luna and how they need something to believe in, something to hold on to so they can stay sane through their troubles at Hogwarts, and for Luna that's believing in the weird creatures that don't exist.

Notes: When I hear the chorus, I think of how perfectly Neville and Luna fit together, like two different pieces of a puzzle. They feel safe and loved with each other. I think it's in Neville's point of view, and he's telling Luna how brilliant she is, despite her eccentricity.
