BASIC GUIDELINES
● Please make sure you have read both the rules and FAQ before applying to Magicdraft. If you're uncertain about anything, contact the mods for clarification.
● Make sure you are submitting an app for the character(s) you have reserved, if you have already done so.
● Write (SERIES / CHARACTER / RESERVED/NON-RESERVED) in the header of your comment.
● We do not accept app challenges. If a character is reserved, then unless that claim is given up no one else may app the same character. Similarly, one character that spans two series (eg, Cloud Stife in Crisis Core and Kingdom Hearts) will only be allowed into the game from one.
● The app must be hosted on the livejournal character account you intend to use for gameplay and linked to in this post. If you are already part of a journal-based game, to avoid confusion you may link to your application posted in a musebox or personal account with the journal you intend to use at Magicdraft. Please disable customised comment pages.
● DO NOT POST YOUR APP HERE IN PIECES. The mod team cannot issue acceptances, revisions or rejections given the need to screen applications.
● ALL APPS WILL BE SCREENED.
PLAYER INFORMATION
NAME: Your name or online alias.
AGE: How old you are: you must be 16 to apply to this game.
JOURNAL: Your personal livejournal where we can contact you.
AIM/PLURK/EMAIL: Whichever contact method you would prefer from the playerbase.
CURRENT CHARACTERS: Only include this if you already play anyone in the game.
CHARACTER INFORMATION
SERIES: Whichever canon your character is from.
NAME: Your character's full name (and any surplus).
RACE: Human/non-human? Hogwarts lets in the strangest people! If your character is technically dead/a spirit, it's worth noting they will now be alive. Whether they are human or not as a result of that is up to you.
AGE: Please state here how old your character is and, if they are 15 or under, include the sentence, I understand that I will be unable to have this character engage in sexual acts within the game while they are underage. If your character ages up canonically or via an update to be sixteen in-game, the ban will be lifted. This part is simply to prove you have acknowledged the restrictions on their age at the time of their entry.
CANON POINT: The stage at which your character will be taken from.
REFERENCES: Any reputable reference for the series your character is from, such as a wiki page.
GENDER: Both physically and mentally.
APPEARANCE: What your character looks like when they arrive at Hogwarts.
PERSONALITY & HOUSE REQUESTS: This is the main section we will be looking at. In lieu of an exaggerated history section, here is where you will need to provide an in-depth and enriched explanation of your character's motivations and the reason why they belong in two houses. The first house you detail will be considered your main elective, but it is required for you to pick a second in the event that too many characters have already been apped into your original choice and a balance needs to be struck. Please let us know if you are dead-set on your original choice or don't mind bending either way so that you are not sent to a house you will find it difficult to have your character settle into.
COMMUTER DETAILS: If you wish to align your character with Voldemort's forces, please specify whether your commuter will be tapped or untapped by the Death Eaters. Only your character will be able to read his instructions via the device, but you are free to discuss his instructions/designs at any time. You cannot read updates from another tapped commuter, so don't lose your own!
POSITION: Are you applying to be a student or a professor? If it's the latter, please refer to the FAQ before you fill in this section.
CURRICULUM: If you are applying to be a professor we ask that you give a brief explanation of what course you feel your character would be best to teach during his time at Hogwarts. Please keep in mind that the core classes are still taught by the core teachers (Mcgonagall, Sprout, Snape, and Flitwick). This section should also cover a basic outline of what they will teach in the class (ie: a lesson plan if you will).
ABILITIES & POWERS: Here, we would like to see what types of magic or classes your character will excel in based on their canon abilities. However strong or weak your character is, let us know. Remember, any insanely strong characters apped in as students will only be as strong as a seventh-year despite their age - any characters apped in as a professor will be stronger than all the students put together but weaker than the entire faculty. This is to avoid IC godmodeing. An explanation of how you think any canon powers or personality traits will translate into Harry Potter 'verse powers (better at one subject, weaker at another) is required.
WAND: The wand your character will be using in the game. What it's made of/good for, etc. and if it has been created from any particular magical artifact/ability your character possessed prior to Hogwarts. Justification is requested to provide further character insight. (For further details, see here.)
MISC.: Anything else you think the mods need to be made aware of.
WRITING SAMPLESFIRST PERSON:
Please submit this in the form of a network post using either Video, Audio, Text or Quill. We want to get a general feel for your grasp on the character's temperament, meaning their inner and outer voices. Make sure that your sample includes at least some sort of action as well, ie: if you from a series such a homestuck we want to see that you can write more than just the character's text quirks.
THIRD PERSON:
This should be written in the form of a log post; prose or action are acceptable. Please write this to reflect the character's response to the world of Hogwarts. This section needs to be at least 250 words.
