[ The video activates with a bit of a jostle, turning on to give a view of gold eyes before it pulls away and settles on a nearby surface. Now, Ed is fully visible as he goes about braiding his hair. ]

So, uh, 'pparently I had quite a nap.

[ A light snort and Ed reaches over to grab his wand. Giving it a flick, his hair continues braiding itself ( Read more... )

[The Unicorn noticed the feed and wondered just what the man meant by a long nap. It didn't sound as though he'd planned to sleep for such an extended period of time and she was vaguely curious as to why he had.]

Excuse me, I do not mean to be rude but how is it you were asleep without wanting to be? Were you under a spell? I've been told things like that can happen.

[ 1/2 ]

[ Hold... up. Is he seeing things? Is he- Reaching up gloved hands to rub his eyes, he blinks a few times at the image in the commuter. Then, he taps the scree twice, turns off the commuter completely, turns it back on, and when the image doesn't change, he leans back. ]

Shit.

[ Shaking himself (Pull yourself together, Ed. Geeze.), he rubs his forehead a few times and tries to focus on the actual question rather than the fact he's seeing a talking unicorn. ]

Sleep? Uh... Oh, right, um. There was a dementor attack 'bout two months ago. Kinda got to me.

[The Unicorn was getting used to that sort of reaction, though getting the blank screen had been rather rude. She was above caring about rudeness however, for the most part. Besides, the man had said a word she didn't know.]

A Dementor? What is a Dementor?

[ A frustrated sigh. ]

A creature of this world. Basically embodies despair. Forces humans to relive their worst memories and feeds off their happy ones. If they had their way, they would steal people's souls.

[Well, she hadn't been expecting to have that as an answer. That sort of creature didn't correspond to anything she knew back home, at least not really, but it wasn't something she really wanted to meet either. She peered a bit more intently at the screen, wondering just how deeply the creatures had affected the man if he'd been asleep so long. She had a feeling she might be able to do something to help, if he was willing to go along with an experiment, but she wasn't sure if he'd go for it.]

Are you well?

[ The gaze the creature gives him is fairly piercing and for a moment, he's tempted to say everything. But he avoids it, looking away and giving a shrug. ]

I'm fine.

[The Unicorn is not so easily fooled. Then again, if the man didn't want to take care of himself, it wasn't really her business. Perhaps if she presented it as a challenge or a favor? From talking to that professor she had a shrewd idea that one of the things the teachers hoped to have happen was for all the disparate peoples gathered to learn to work together. If she allowed the man to go on, weakened, was that really a good idea? With a sigh she turned away as well, resigned to what she had to do.]

I see. Forgive me for asking a favor from someone I have only just met, but would you consider assisting me with something?

[ Assisting? What would a unicorn need his help for? Aside from maybe holding up its wand... ]

What'd you have in mind?

[She wasn't really the sort of creature to be comfortable with lying, or even stretching the truth, and she'd already exhausted her very limited talent at it. The Unicorn just wasn't any good at artifice. She sighed and gave the man a rather soulful look through the screen.]

I wish to see if I can help you. I am not certain what ails you, but you are not well.

[ The look is a bit... well, he's not sure what to make of it and really, he's still a bit bewildered by this whole conversation. More so by the offer she makes. Part of him, always just a bit suspicious of people offering without prompting, makes him wonder why the creature is bothering. There must be a price involved. Regardless of what he told Lelouch about prices sometimes being as simple as friendship, Ed still believes wholeheartedly in the concept of Equivalent Exchange. ]

What makes you think I'm not well?

[The Unicorn looked away. She couldn't shrug, but if she could, that was the movement she'd have made. It was obvious the man didn't want her help, or to admit to someone that there was a problem. Humans were often unfathomable.]

It was only a suggestion, you needn't take it. I'll leave you alone if you like, I did not mean to intrude.
