Oh, look, I can write. Isn't that clever?

Clovis la Britannia.

Viceroy Clovis la Britannia.

Clovis la Britannia, Viceroy of Area 11.

Clovis la Britannia, Third Prince of the Holy Britannian Empire.

I wonder which title will suit me best here. [pen taps against the page, tap, tap, tapYour Highness, Prince Clovis ( Read more... )

[ Britannia. While he hadn't heard such a realm (though given the circumstances, perhaps it was to be expected) the arrogance the writer was completely unmistakable. ]

Prince Clovis.

Yes, exactly.

Where is your kingdom?

Empire.

And it encompasses about one third of the world where I am from.

It makes little difference.

Then it does not exist in this world?

Unfortunately, it seems like it does not.

But that does not change who I am.

You are a boy with a title. Nothing more. Titles hardly win respect.

Don't be childish.

It is a statement of fact.

While I do not deny that you held power in your own kingdom, here it would seem you are a prince in name only.

That is only the sort of things that losers say to make it feel as though they have won.

[ much to his horror, he finds himself oddly reminded of his younger brother. ]

You try my patience. Do you see others flaunting their titles so brazenly?

Because they have nothing to be proud of!

Or they have a drop of sense.

How is it to have sense to not have pride in the titles given to you? It shows that you are willing to roll over rather than show any sense of connection to your world.

Did not people not work for those titles or feel warmth when hearing others say them? Really, it's just silly to give them up simply because they are here.

It's really like saying that your name doesn't even matter because who knows you by it here?

You see?

No.

An exciled king may still call himself a king, but that alone is not enough to command respect. It is one thing to call yourself "prince". It is another to demand obedience because of it.

I am a prince and that is all that I am.

Really, it is just best to accept it.
