[Maybe you spotted Japan as he walked through the doors of a certain hallway only to have a bucket of water fall on him. Or maybe you notice him on the way back to his room to find a change of clothes? The Gryffindor common room ( Read more... )

[He misses running into Japan in person, on a lower level of the castle much of the day, but the questions are interesting whether he can recognize the handwriting or not. Luckily it hasn't been long since he'd asked Madam Pince about the latter one himself.

Latvia does his best to keep his own response neat, hands a little shaky even with his gloves on.]

Are you from a different time?

Also - The restricted section needs a note if you aren't old enough, since it holds rarer and more advanced books. Does something interest you in there?

Yes, it seems most of those from my world are ahead of my time.

The correct age, is it? Is that my actual age or the age that was given to me to sort me into this "4th year"? Mostly I am curious what is there to begin with.

That must be strange! Are you settling well here?

I'm not positive about which age is more important, I'm sorry. But it's a problem I understand! I'm in one of the lower years, so I was told I'll need a note. But I'm older than I look. [Then again that's a common situation, being this short....] I haven't asked for one yet, since most of those books are on darker magic than the rest of the library....

I am doing my very best to.

I see. Is that sort of situation common here? [Looking older, he means] And it is only dark magic?

Of age? I don't think so.... [He doubts many other students or staff are going on into their hundreds.]

I'm sure there are other things inside, too! [Or at least he hopes there are.]

So simply a shared inconvenience.

I would like to hope so. Perhaps if there is anything on history, or culture, or perhaps even art... [Japan.......]

I've been on the lookout for stories, too. I like romance poetry! Though what might be fiction and what is fact here is different from what I'm used to.

Maybe you could ask one of the paintings around here about art! And there is a history class or two! [Then thinking back - ] Or is it cultures from your world you want to catch up on?

Poetry is quite nice, isn't it? Yes, that is a good point, as well. I continue to be startled by this place.

I had forgotten I could do such a thing... [Talking to paintings. So weird!] I may try that. And with how many others are here, that sort of thing would be better done through meeting and speech I believe. [Forgetting he didn't introduce himself. Again.]

It still catches me off-guard sometimes! Oh - some paintings are nicer than others, by the way. But you could always keep walking if you want to get away.... [He'll never interrupt Sir Cadogan again!!]

And yes, meeting and speech is part of class. I'm with the Slytherins -
[He feels late with this, too, so he ends off - ]
My name is Latvia. Have you met any classmates yet?

I will be sure to keep that in mind.

Pleased to meet you. I am a Gryffindor, it seems... My name is Japan. I have met a few, at least.

[Japāna! He's finding so many other nations lately... just what was Dumbledore up to bringing them here? And odd, he didn't seem to recognize his name... or maybe not so odd, no need to get sensitive about it. But the gap in time must be bigger than Latvia realized. To hint that he knows him or not...?

Perhaps later.]

That's very good, then! I'm sure you'll be alright with friends around, Mr. Japan.

And maybe we'll run into each other in the library someday.

[Poor Latvia would not be recognized regardless of time period huh... gkjdkf]

Maybe so... I look forward to the chance.
