[Russia notices Japan as he's walking back to the Slytherin Commons. Its surprising, since he hadn't noticed the other nation but he looks so tired and apparently pranked. He keeps a distance between them since he's carrying books and Japan is rather soaked right now but he greets him as he would any other, with a little grin and nod.]

Yaponiya, Privjet.

[He's startled by the familiar greeting, and sort of whirls his head to find Russia. Oh.]

...Ah... Russia-san is here, as well?

Nyet, I'm a ghost.

[Deadpans. He tips his head to the side.]

Did you just arrive here?

[asideglance]

Hah... [He sideglances. Just remain calm Japan. It's totally cool that you're soaking wet and now you ran into Russia...]

Within the last week, yes.

[za_rodina]

[He frowns at that but shrugs.]

Very new then. I am surprised I haven't run into you before though?

I have been trying my best to blend in...

Russia-san has been here for some time then?

Uhm, about a month or so I guess? That sounds about right.

You're Gryffindor, so you should have some backup at least.

For so long?! [That is in fact surprising. But Japan hesitates at that next part.]

Ah... "Backup?"

[za_rodina]

[He definitely scowls at that.]

Don't like this place. As if I would put my alliance with a foolish old man instead of my people.

... [So truly against their will, huh...]

I do find it rather strange that so much is being asked of us.

Do you? They can pass us off as outside help and push their own behind our lines. Who's to say we're ever going to be let out of this castle anyway?

[He's honestly got nothing against the castle, and magic is rather interesting...but being kidnapped and forced into war against his will? That's where Russia draws a line.]

It is rather important for me to be home, as well, right now. [Modernization was rocky enough without him being missing. If he's even missing at all, with this weird time stuff. Even if he's not though, what does that mean for him?]

Has Russia-san spoken with anyone higher about this?

[He blinks and looks down at Japan.]

Did something else happen at your house? Last I heard you were still working on rebuilding.

And no, I haven't yet. I'm not certain most of those in charge will listen, nor am I certain about where everyone's alliances lie.

[He's actually seeing where Russia is coming from on this. Weird... But his train of thought for that is broken as he realizes what was asked. Rebuilding?]

...Rebuilding? I do not understand. I have only just opened my borders... [He trails off into a certain realization]

Ah, this sort of thing has come up before, but my year may be different from others'...

[Incredulous little look, most of the nations he's met here have been from his current point of time. However, he wouldn't doubt this place to screw with them even further.

Oh, but if Japan's from the time he thinks he is then things just got awkward.]

By opening your borders I assume you're from the 1800s then?

...1868, yes. [He decides not to question anything. After a long period of thinking about this sort of thing, he had determined it was not good to ask about the future, and so he thought back to the past instead. But now this was just weird indeed.]
