[Layton's handwriting scrawls across the page in that quick, slightly messy way of one that's used to jotting down notes often.] Good afternoon everyone. My name is Professor Layton to any new arrivals I have yet to speak with.

I wanted to inform everyone that I am planning on offering extracurricular, non-magical fencing lessons and demonstrations ( Read more... )

I think I'll attend. I've only taken a few lessons in fencing in particular, but I'm well versed in using a sword, so if you need a dueling partner, I can step in.

Oh, thank you. I already have a few volunteers, but I might always need another helping hand. Do you mind if I ask who this is, so I can note who will be attending?

I'm Suzaku Kururugi, 3rd year Gryffindor, sir.

Mr. Kururugi, then. Thank you. I look forward to seeing you at the lessons.

[A pause, then added almost as an afterthought.] A Gryffindor, you say? I believe Miss Kouzuki, who is attending as well, comes from the same House.

[Layton is a little surprised at the brevity of the statement, but doesn't think on it too long. It's probably because they just haven't met yet, he thinks.]

It's good to see that members of Gryffindor as well all the other Houses will be present. I hope the lessons will allow for some interaction between them, as well as teach some combat.

[Sadly, its quite the opposite. He and Kallen know each other all too well.]

I hope so too. I'm afraid I really don't get much of this House business, it seems an unnecessary way to separate everyone.

Doesn't it? But the Houses are part of how Hogwarts was founded, so I suppose I do understand why they would like to keep them for traditional reasons.
