James struggled not to grin as he gathered his things and fled the Defense classroom. The look on Lily's face when she was sentenced to detention? Priceless. What was so horrible about detention, anyway? He paused in the hallway outside the classroom, off to the side of the door. She had seemed very upset. His lips pulled into a frown. It was just detention. It wasn't like they'd be sent to Azkaban over it. He let out a frustrated sigh. He owed her an apology, and he would give it to her.

He waited for her to leave the classroom.
