18-19. I've read it before recently, but this morning I find myself reading it again. The gist of what goes on this: Hezekiah is king, and the Assyrians are threatening him. The Assyrians make proud boasts against the Lord, claiming that the Lord sent them to overthrow Judah. The messenger from the Assyrians was trying to intimidate the people, refusing to speak in a language they couldn't understand. Hezekiah prays twice, and the Lord's second answers is the one I want to focus on.

Long ago I ordained it.
In days of old I planned it;
now I have brought it to pass,

soveriegn. He runs everything. And I think that sometimes we as people don't like that. We want our freedom to choose things for ourselves. We want our freedom from God, at times. For some strange reason, I feel like talking about the free will vs. predestination thing again, even though I also feel I've beaten it dead. But I'm still going to say it. I think us people want the freedom to say that we can choose something other than God. But can we, really? If God's sovereign- which He kind of is- I mean, read the scripture- then what freedom do we really have? Not a whole lot, if any. God's the one that does everything.
And I thank him for it.
