Kamelot - Rise Again
Sam stared incredulously as the lid of the sarcophagus lifted. As a last resort, a desperate measure, they’d put Janet in one of the devices to see if it could yet revive her after the staff blast her lover had taken.
Though she’d been careful not to have hope, or at least not to let it shine through the thick armour she wore, inside a faint flame of it lit her heart.
“Janet!” she exclaimed, and rushed to the petite woman’s side. Ignoring the fact that they were in full view of her team, her very military team, she kissed her lover full on the lips and said ‘glad you’re back. Don’t ever do that to me again! I love you…”
Janet merely smiled, hugged her and whispered ‘now you know how I feel when you do that.’
Bauhaus - In fear of Dub
The Goa’ould Dub was torturing Sam and SG-1. He wanted to know everything about each team member’s secret doubts and used a device to look deep into their hearts to see it. What it brought to the forefront in Sam’s mind, she wasn’t happy about: her greatest fear was that Janet didn’t love her with the same ferocity that Sam loved the doctor with.
They devised an escape plan and on their return, Janet assured Sam that she did indeed love her. Repeatedly.
Sonata Arctica - Kingdom for a Heart
The cruel king of a distant planet with which Earth seeked to trade had terminal myocardial insufficiency. Janet, as the base’s CMO, had been Gated in to see if anything could be done about the king’s condition. Unfortunately, Janet determined only a new heart could save the man.
The king immediately declared he’d give his kingdom for a heart, and Janet went searching.
Many tests later, it was determined that the king didn’t match any known donor on Earth, so the choice fell to a mechanical heart. Once implanted, he became known as the man with the steel heart but still gave Sam and Janet permission to visit whenever they wanted.
Skinny Puppy - Tear or Beat
One night when Sam came home from a difficult mission, she went to Janet’s as had become their custom. This time, though, was different. She felt it as she entered the house and the feeling only intensified as she neared the bedroom.
The sight that greeted her was enough to take her breath away: Janet, dressed in leather, dangling a set of handcuffs from one forefinger and having a scarf draped over her arm. Sam’s knees went weak at the very sight, and when she was told to strip, she complied readily.
Janet ordered her to lie spread-eagled on the bed, tied her up so tightly she couldn’t move and proceeded to make her forget about being an officer in charge and sent her into a fuzzy, pleasant headspace for the remainder of the night.
Hard Corps - running cadence (47 seconds long…)
A new squadron of recruits was drilling. Sam and Janet were standing there, reminiscing and thinking of the good old days.
Blind Guardian - Blood Tears
At first, Sam was numb. One of the few missions where Janet had come along, and they’d found themselves under heavy staff-fire from some hostile Jaffa. When she’d seen her lover take the blast to the chest, the soldier in her reacted before the woman understood what was going on. She yelled at O’Neill to provide cover fire and proceeded to drag Janet outside the line of fire and into cover on sheer adrenalin. When they’d Gated home, out of danger, and the medics were swarming the body of her one true love, she said flatly “it’s no use. She’s dead.”
No emotion penetrated her that day and when they were ordered off-base for some R&R, it hit her when she turned onto Janet’s driveway out of sheer habit. She sat on the porch, helmet hanging from limp hands, and wept. The tears finally came, flowing hot like blood over her face and splattering in the dust on the wooden steps.
Suicide Commando - Sterbehilfe
Sam was alone. The mission had gone terribly awry, the rest of the team had been killed, there was no way to get back to Earth, she was cold, hungry and utterly without provisions, and she just didn’t want to go on. She had, after all, nothing left to live for.
She lay down in the shade of a tree and stared out at the wasteland surrounding her. In time, she slept. In her dreams, she had died and gone to Heaven, seeing Janet there waiting for her. Funny, heaven looked different from what she’d imagined it to be like…
Janet chuckled. “This is not Heaven, my love. I’ve Ascended and this is where I exist now. The Ancients have promised to let you come up too, when your time comes. But this isn’t it, dear. Hold on a while longer; someone will come for you. I will not help you die before your time.”
“But Janet…” Sam objected.
“No,” Janet said. “Go now, and live.”
And live she did - found shelter, food and water enough to make it until the time when her teammates, presumed dead, came to rescue her.
Rhapsody - Tears of a Dying Angel
Rahab wept. He’d chosen to accept mortal form and his time was now ending, despite Janet’s best efforts to save him.
He’d been sent to Earth from his home planet to right great wrongs done here and even in his last minutes he had some magic left. During his stay, Sam and Janet had taken it upon themselves to make him comfortable and provide for his needs, and despite their attempts to hide it, the angel had seen the obvious love between them. But then, these magical beings didn’t miss much.
His last act on Earth was to make sure nothing could tear the two soulmates apart. All three cried as he drew in a last, shuddering breath and blew it out, finally relinquishing his hold on this mortal coil.
Theatre of Tragedy - Commute
Sam woke up without being roughly awakened by a bleeping alarm, which was a rare luxury. The early morning sun slid through the blinds and bathed the bedroom in a soft, golden light. Glancing over to the head nestled on her right arm, a big smile broke out on her face and she couldn’t help but nuzzle the auburn hair so close to her face. Janet smiled before opening her eyes and tilting her head up to kiss Sam.
As if on cue, the radio came on with a traffic report, and Sam commented wryly on the announcer’s attempt at a joke to lighten the stress of the commute. “Honey, you haven’t seen a commute until you’ve traveled halfway across the galaxy to get to work…”
Janet chuckled at that. “Well, at least you don’t have to deal with these endless traffic jams on your commute…”
“You have a point there, love,” Sam acceded.
VNV Nation - Illusion
The first time Cupid came through the Gate, the observers were stunned into silence and then erupted into hysteric laughter. When he actually began singing, no-one in the Gate Room could hold in their laughter anymore, either. Even Teal’c cracked a smile, which was exceedingly rare for the big man.
Finishing his song, Cupid went back through the horizon only to return moments later accompanied by Venus, the goddess of love, herself. This time, they recited a sappy love poem.
Sam was struggling to hold in the laughter that desperately wanted to escape as she looked at Janet. The song and the poem were both meant for and addressed to the good doctor, and the look of sheer bewilderment on her face was priceless. Soon, though, Janet caught on and she just enjoyed the show.
Later, at home, she asked “it was you, wasn’t it?”
Sam laughed finally and said “Yes, it was me. I made holograms. You like?”
“Oh I love. I just hope nobody else gets it…”
