I finished watching Persona ~trinity soul~ today. I have to say, it was amazing! I totally reccomend it to anyone. You don't even have to know the Persona game series. I mean, one day I saw some stuff for Persona 3 and I'm like "that looks pretty cool" and then in a couple weeks I saw the anime was coming out, so I'm like, "what the hell, I'll check it out" and it was totally worth it!
Okay, so the first ten or so episodes were terribly boring, but they had some really serious character development going on in them, and the snow and everything made me to nostalgic, considering how I'm trapped down here in bright, sunny Florida all day. The snow and the cold just gave me with warm happy feeling inside, ironically. Anyway, after the first ten episodes, stuff really picks up. You could probably skip the first ten, but then you wouldn't like the characters as much, I think.
I admit, some really screwy shit happened in this show. Usually I don't like those psychological stories where you're not sure if this is real or not, but this was way awesome. There were some serious mind games going on or something, but they didn't give me the horrendous headache that most shows like that do (for example, Night Head Genesis or that one show called Harry the Psychic or something). In the end, nothing really made sense, but hell, if I wanted something to make sense I'd watch the Discovery Channel.
Anyway, it was a superb series, over all. I loved the character designs and the animation was amazing!
Also, the OPs were incredible. I liked the music, but the scenes and stuff they made go along with it were amazing! I think I liked it better than the OP in Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho, which, by the way, was also incredible (I'm not sure which I like better since I haven't watched the Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho recently -- that series was a disapointment, by the way, since nothing ever happened).
During the last episode, though, I found it a little funny that during the crucial scene they started playing this rap and it was all in English and it was totally ghetto, it even said "go back to the crib" XDDDDD
Anyway, I felt that the ending was still pretty damn sad. I mean, everyone who was dead stayed dead, though they certainly got a lot of screentime post-humous. I was particularly disappointed about Ryou and Eiko being really being dead. Over all, it was a terribly sad ending, for me, at least. I really liked episode 24, where we go to see what happened and I was pretty sad to see the parents die. I never liked Kanaru much when she was alive, but boy was I sad when she died. I really liked that episode, especially the part where she was finally able to see the crappy little apartment she lived in alone, that was really heart-wrenching.
On the other hand, there were, of course, plenty of unanwsered questions at the end, such as: What happens to the Apathy Syndrome people? What about the people who switched bodies? What about the people who sit around at the beach? What happened after everyone stopped having mass migraines? What the hell was that "whale" business? How did Shin's parents know about the whale and stuff? How the hell did Personas happen anyway? Where was Jun/Yuki/Ryou when they were "with the whale"? Whose side was Ayane on anyway? And why were they moving out of the house if they still owned it?
Yep. Those are all my questions. Anyway, it was a sad series, though, I like I said. Though I still didn't understand all the metaphors and symbolism in the Whale Feathers book. Maybe I'm just too dumb. Anyway, I loved the series. (Thinking about it now, the confusing-ness reminds me of Noein, which I also loved)
