On another note...

P-chan's Path to Becoming a Bitter Intellectual: How I learned that liberal arts makes human interaction harder than before.

It's true, the more I read the more bitter I get about other human beings. This is on everything from the 'exoticization' of various parts of the world (esp. East Asia for me, but that's because it's my specialty) to morality to emissions to geopolitics and the inseparable confluence of them all.

That I have more background than I should in psychology and philosophy makes me more bitter, as everything fits together more globally, with all these extra facets and Dammit! Why don't you damn youngsters know about them?

On the one hand, this apparently makes people think you are interesting. Crazy, but interesting. On the other hand I'm stuck between hating discussion with the uninformed, hating my own presumption of informed status because there's no way I know enough, and confused bemusement at how the world functions if what I see is representative of the population.

It makes me admit to honestly being interested in going into academia, not just because it's 1 of roughly 2 careers that could actually employ my studies. It also makes me wonder if I could handle the students I see all around me -- as a student, I at least can walk away. Having TA'd, I have only a taste of what being completely unable to walk away is like, and I'm very aware of having been at a remove from the firing line of that.

So yeah, that's the madness, back to writing.
