So it was getting to be pretty late that Sunday night, later than I'd prefer, what with fourteen-hour workdays beginning the very next day. I really should've been in bed at eleven by the latest. I don't remember what kept me up until eleven-thirty* but I do remember what kept me up until midnight.
Justice League Unlimited.
This is probably the cartoon you've heard of but haven't really watched. Likely the time-slot on Cartoon Network makes it inaccessible, or perhaps some ill-will remains because of Superfriends. This ain't that. If you're lucky, there's someone Super in it, but good luck on finding any friends. The Batman is no one's friend.
Speaking of the Bats, that's what kept me 'til midnight. See, I'm a big fan of Batman Beyond and once again JLU has brought him into one of the stories. I'll try not to go into too much detail but let's just say someone was causing havoc throughout time and it necessitated more than a few superheroes of our present to go into Batman Beyond's.. uh.. present. Future. Er, tomorrow. Something.
Let's just say it was fun to see Batman Beyond introduce Bruce Wayne to Batman and vice-versa. Seems they already knew each other though and, of course, neither found Batman Beyond's antics funny. I did. Anyway, what with the space-time whatnot tearing itself apart, seems the writers had more than a few freedoms to re-introduce old characters and kill existing ones. Oh, and the Batman almost ended up at the beginning of time. Or is that "almost started up?" I don't know. I'm just glad to see Batman Beyond again. Another of the recent episodes focused upon him as an adult, dealing with the discovery that he was manipulated into the role of the new Batman.
This show has some -very- good writing. There's a massive story-arc in there that you're aware of, even if you've only seen a handful of episodes. It is so good to see cartoons like that --and it's so good to see Hawkgirl without her mask on, but that's another sexy story. A very, very sexy story. Quite sexy. What was her real name again? Shara? Something akin to that, just can't remember what. I do want to remember, honest!
Anyway, if you get a chance, if you've got the connections, even if you have to get up in six hours to go to work, give Justice League Unlimited a try. It's good, and so good for you. Chock-full of vitamins. And now, back to work.
*though World of Warcraft tends to be guilty of all things lately.
