At least I knew what to expect when chibi-chan showed up at my heists...

You do realize that by giving me ice cream after I stolen a necklace worth tens of thousands of yen, you are practically awarding me for my criminal activities, right? Because I would hate to get the wrong impression.

Are you certain there was nothing added to your ice cream? You were not acting normal. Not that I am certain what normal is for you ( Read more... )

I just thought you'd might like a refreshing snack after working so hard, is something wrong with that?

.............Oh. Um. No, nothing was wrong. Perfectly fine. Yes. Um.

Hey! I'm me! This is really Kudo Shinichi, not some freaky doppelganger. I have the birthmark to prove it.

I told you, I'm not trying to catch you. You don't have to worry about that from my angle.

Well, why not? You needed to relax, said you wanted ice cream, so I decided to bring it to you.

Can't I just be friendly?

You're welcome! Well, good. Because I'm not stopping. Preferances for your next heist-snack?

Just bring them next time, I'll take them then. I do like them.

Did you somehow miss the memo where as a detective you are suppose to remind me, the thief, that stealing is bad, it's probably hurting someone, and other pithy moralizing platitudes to convince me to turn away from my path of immorality?

Oh, like that was a ringing endorsement.

Well, one would think if it was a competent doppleganger, it would also have the birthmark, but I am not sure I would call you a competent doppleganger. I would think if you were really a good copy, you would not be acting so out of character.

Well, I am still not entirely convinced of that yet. You might say the very fact that all the evidence is in your favor works against you.

Yes, but you did not have to bring it to me. I would have found some on my own at some point. Not to mention, it seems like you spent quite a lot of time and energy just to be able to give me a snack.

I suppose so if you wish, but it seems rather an odd way to go about it. Plus, I am still a little confused as to why you even want to do this. Sure, chibi-chan and I were friends ( ... )

I like being unique.

.....Um.

This is assuming they've seen me totally in the buff, of course. And I'm not acting out of character....well...I just make some exceptions for you.

Well, I'll just have to try harder.

But ice crwam is more fun with two people. I didn't feel like being alone, wanted to see you, and you needed ice cream. It all worked out.

Why is it odd? I want to be friends too. And I don't approve iof it, of course, but that doesn't mean I'm going to chase you and lecture you for it. You don't need that from me.

Indeed. You're great company. Of course. Now, like I said.....what would you like to eat next time?

Nothing strawberry goes to waste around me....but you would not ahve eaten them? Do you not like strawberry?

That you definitely are. I cannot think of anyone I have ever met who is quite like you.

If there was something wrong with the way I looked or if you thought the costume is silly looking, you can tell me. I certainly will not be offended.

Well, I have not seen you in the buff, so the presence or lack of said birthmark will not do much to convince me that you are not the real Kudo-san. But exceptions for me? Such as what? And why are you willing to do that?

You do that. I am sure I will at least find it entertaining.

So it did, but it still seems like you did a lot of work just to give me an ice cream cone, especially since you were suppose to be spending the evening relaxing. Did you at least read your book at some point?

I suppose when you look at it that way, you might not see it as odd. While I who is still trying to understand what a detective of your caliber is interested in a simple thief but apparently not to capture him, finds it extremely strange. After all, while I do not need you to lecture me, but I certainly did not ( ... )

Good. I'm glad I'm unique.

......No. The costume is perfectly fine. You look really good. Um.

Well........why not?

I'll do that.

Having ice cream and a good chat is relaxing enough in it's own way. I can find time for the book later.

Well.....it's the least I could do. If nothing else, at least out of respect for Conan.

Indeed. We'll ahve to make sure all the others are just as enjoyable. Right. Chocolate it is then. Any favorite types or brands, or shall I just bring different ones each heist to see what I hit on?

Hmmn, strawberry is my favorite. but strawberries and chocolate go good together. maybe that's what I'll bring next time. ....And those candies are a really good kind, no wonder he growled at you. But you probably didn't ahve to hold back on his account, he would have let you have them if you really wanted.

As am I, all things considered. You have at least made my week interesting.

Then if you were not staring at something wrong with my costume, what were you staring at?

Do not try to play the clueless idiot, Kudo-san. I know you understand why not. I am not trying to be difficult, after all if you truly do not want to catch me, I certainly am not going to complain. I just wish to know what lead you to becoming my friend, why you are going so much out of your way to do so, and what I did to convince you to ignore what you were taught.

You should. It is, after all, a book you have been looking forward to reading and I do not wish to keep you from it for my sake's. After all, I have been going without snacks at my heists so far.

You did so much more than just the least of what you could have done. You could have just left me alone, you could have become a casual, random commenter, or you could have just been an online friend - none of which would have led you to chasing me.Well, I suppose I shall see how those go the next time. But I ( ... )

I'm glad to have done that, at least.

....I wasn't staring.

That....well....let's just say it will all be clear soon. But trust me, I really want to do all these things, and have no intention of doing anything against you.

Well, true...but I enjoy your company a lot too. Bringing snacks is quite fun.

Well.....I'm an overachiever.

Of course. It's more fun that way. Okay!

Well then, I'll bring that next time. ...I see. I can't really see why, but you seem like a playful person, so it probably is.

You were too! Every time I looked over at you, you were looking at me and grinning, then you would glance away when you saw I noticed. Something must have been wrong.

That is rather ominous, you having some hidden purpose in gaining my friendship. Do you have some nefarious plan that you wish to involve me in and you think by bribing me with ice cream and chocolate I will be more agreeable to whatever it is?

Well, I suppose as long as you do not forget to indulge yourself and nobody gets hurt, I cannot find too much a problem with it. And I will enjoy the snacks.

So it seems. Well, I am sure chibi-chan will appreciate what you are doing.

Good, I am sending out another one today that I hope is sufficiently challenging.

Mainly because it was chibi-chan and he was comfortable enough with me to let me do so without getting upset or worrying that I really had a problem with him hoarding his candies or any other ideas he might have come up with. It was a joy knowing that we've gotten that far.

.....There wasn't anything wrong. I can't just look at you? Though I wasn't aware I was looking that much...

There's no plan. I mean.....there is a reason I'm doing all this, but it's not a plana nd ti's not bad and I promise I'm not going to do anything to compromise you. And I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't want to honestly do these things anyway.

See? It all works out. I hope you will like this week's snack!

It's not just for Conan, I really want to do this myself too.

Right then. I guess that's my sign to make coffee for tonight.

......Yeah. Friendships like that are rare. It's nice you were so close. I'm.....a little jealous.

Well, I am less perturbed by the fact you were staring than the fact that you kept smiling while you were doing it. I feel like I am missing some joke. You were indeed looking that much. I have a sense for those sort of things, it keeps me out of police hands.

So far I must admit you have not done anything overly suspicious, so I am inclined to give you the benefit. However, knowing there is some reason that has yet to be disclosed continues to keep me on the leery side. I dislike secrets that I do not know.

Well, it is chocolate and strawberries. It is hard to go wrong with that combination.

So you have said. Then, I suppose for now, I will accept your overture of friendship in the spirit you insist it is in. Something tells me you will not tell me the reason until you feel comfortable enough to do so and my constantly badgaring you for an answer is not going to do that.

That would be a good idea, I am curious to see how long it will take you to figure it out.

Yes, it is. I miss him, so very much. ...Jealous? Whatever for? Do ( ... )

....I was just enjoying your company? I didn't realise....I'm sorry. I have a sense about it too, helps sense if any culprits have intentions towards me.

I am sorry I can't tell you just yet, but....it's a very personal thing. You'll know soon, but....not now.

True. Somehow strawberries just tatse even better with chocolate.

.....Thank you.

Well, most of your riddles take me about a day or so, depending on much concentration I spend on it....

...I'm sorry. ....No, not yet....and even if we do make up, things will most likely never go back to the way they were.....and that makes me feel a little sad. Even if our friendship ends up better or leads to something else entirely, we can never go back to that time.

Is that your final answer? Because you did not sound very sure about that. Again, it was not the staring that bothered me so there is no apology needed for it.

Something personal... yet it has to do with me and why you want my friendship. I am definitely looking forward to when this makes sense.

It is one of those unsolved mysteries of the world - how can chocolate and strawberries, which while they taste great on there own, reach epic levels in taste when combined. You are the detective, you should find out for us.

You're welcome, I suppose. Although, I am doing this less for your sake and more because I am tired of feeling like I am beating my head up against the wall. I just have to be patient and wait until you're ready to tell me.

About what it should take. It should give you just enough time to do something about the information yet not enough to really

Don't be, it is not your fault and you have been a good distraction this past week. No, you cannot, as much as we would love to freeze a moment and never let it go, life ( ... )

.....Well, I guess. I don't really have any other reason.... Well, still! I shouldn't have.

I'm sorry.....but it won't be long now. I promise.

Mmn. We'll have to do plenty of experimenting tomorrow night on this subject.

I know it must be frustrating you, but all I can really say is I'm sorry.

Not enough to really plan against you, huh? Well, I beg to differ, but it's not like I'll be planning anything against you, so it's a moot point.

I know, but you still miss him, and I can't do anything about that. I know, but I can't help wishing we could go back, when things wer eless complicated. But at least new good things can always be found...
