getting to know you
Positive characteristics: Whimsical, adventurous, imaginative, "an old soul" (so I've been told), compassionate, dreamy, classy.
Negative characteristics: Childlike, restless, stubborn, socially awkward, naïve, unrealistic, reclusive and melancholic at times.
Neutral characteristics: Daydreamer, curious, sensitive, mellow, innocent, detached, different.
Quote that describes you: This is silly, but in the first few pages of Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451, a character named Clarisse describes herself as "seventeen and crazy" and I think that is absolute beauty. The truth and humanness of it all really spoke to me, and I feel it describes me well even if I'm not seventeen anymore!
Motto that you live by (if different from above): The lyrics to "Across The Universe" by The Beatles always inspire me, especially the chorus ("Nothing's gonna change my world.")
these are a few of my favorite things
Give an explanation if needed.
Color: Lime green, closely followed by red, black, tangerine, and aqua. All colors are amazing, though, and I like 'em for different reasons! I could go further into it but I'm not sure whether I should subject you to me musing on every single color ever.
Animal: Rabbits, giraffes, bats, deer, and generally any bird or dog. I'm extremely fond of animals in general and will completely stop whatever I'm doing in favor of interacting with them. When I go biking, I'll stop and stare at deer passing by in the woods until they're out of sight.
Mythical creature: Phoenixes, fairies, or elves.
Extinct animal: Dinosaurs! Especially brontosauruses.
Fantasy novel: Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found There by Lewis Carroll. As a kid I always related extremely well to Alice - I was bored with rules and lessons and wanted instead to daydream all day and create a less mundane place for myself. Harry Potter falls ridiculously close behind. My summer tradition is to read the entire series - I'm such a geek when it comes to HP.
Sci-fi novel: The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Hands-down the funniest, sweetest series I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Behind that are Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials and almost any Philip K Dick novel, though reading too many of the latter depresses me, hahah.
Other novel: The Weetzie Bat Books by Francesca Lia Block. They're fantasy novels of sorts, I s'ppose, but it focuses more on the fantastical parts of real life and love. I relate really well to one of the characters and the writing style is just haunting. Beautiful books. I'm also fond of Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli for similar reasons - I feel like the girl in it and I were separated at birth or something.
Fantasy movie: The Wizard of Oz and Howl's Moving Castle.
Sci-fi movie: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and the original Star Wars films.
Other movie: Tricky to choose just one, but I'll go with Pulp Fiction!
Fantasy/Sci-fi tv show: Scrubs and FLCL for fantasy, Lost<33 for Sci-fi.
Other tv show: Arrested Development!
Time period: The 1960s and 1970s in America, mostly because all my favorite music comes from then! I love that a beautiful culture came out of such a dark age. Also, the time period where Ancient Greece (I'm sorry history buffs, I am awful with dates) was super amazing and produced all that beautiful art and literature.
Non-fantasy/sci-fi hero and heroine: Aeris Gainsborough from the video game Final Fantasy VII and Christopher McCandless who was a real person, but is famous for his sort-of biography Into the Wild.
Song with a sample of lyrics: "A With Living" by Do Make Say Think:
"Lying down beneath the stars
Alone at last, I rest
Feeling right, feels good, but being right is best
Upshooting stars have their effect
Perfect things left lain
Oft our hands are held as perfect as our sleep
Heavy hearts come hold our hands
Took at last to understand that light and dark are rust
And all the rest is dust
If we can't, it's understood that we never could
The stars still helped when we fell
Would our hands do what they should
Heavy hearts come hold our hands
The planets help you understand
Light and dark are on and off
And all thats' left is us"
this or that
Are you more -there is room for both; please explain.
Abstract or Concrete: Abstract.
Adventurous or Homey: Adventurous, though there's nothing like opening your front door after being away for a while. <3
Agreeable or Distant: Agreeable, though I may seem distant since I'm often lost in my thoughts!
Cheerful or Melancholy: Cheerful with bouts of melancholy.
Clever or Pretty: A little of both, maybe.
Concise or Wordy: Concise, though this application contradicts that a bit!
Creative or Traditional: Creative.
Emotional or Logical: Emotional.
Extroverted or Introverted: Introverted.
Fighter or Lover: Lover.
Flexible or Stubborn: Either depending on the situation at hand. I can be very flexible and very stubborn!
Free-spirited or Practical: Free-spirited.
Goody-two-shoes or Naughty: Neither, or in-between.
Helpless or Independent: Independent.
Impulsive or Planner: Impulsive.
Mental or Physical: Mental.
Modest or Vain: Modest.
Subdued or Vivacious: Vivacious.
test me; know me
The follow questions are optional - if you know the answer, please respond. If you are unsure, feel free to leave blank.
What is your
Myers-Briggs personality type? Would you agree? (
Test ) INFP, and yes, it describes me eerily well! A childlike sense of wonder, an introvert and an idealist... it's really spot-on!
What are your highest intelligences according to
Gardner? Musical, then Naturalist, Linguistic, Intrapersonal, and Visual.
What is your
alignment? Chaotic Good.
What is your zodiac symbol? Does it fit you? (
Western /
Chinese /
Celtic )
Western zodiac is Cancer, but I find myself to be less romantic and less materialistic than the typical Cancer. That's not to say I dislike romance, but according to what I've read, love comes first for Cancer, whereas it's equally important to adventure for me.
Chinese zodiac is the Goat/Sheep. Again, I can see it in me a bit, but it's not completely accurate and I relate more to the Rabbit sign.
Celtic zodiac is the Oak. I.. don't think that describes me at all, honestly!
Do you have any siblings? What order are you? Yes, I have one sister six years my elder! No younger ones for me~
Would you consider yourself religious or spiritual? Religious no, spiritual yes! There are a lot of unanswered questions in the world, and I like to be able to come up with my own answers and beliefs instead of having to think a certain, set way. Overall, I think the earth is a wonderful and beautiful place, and I feel very much connected to nature and "magic," if you will. 8)
would you rather
These are very extreme opposites, meant to be difficult to choose. Pretend you're being forced to decided one or the other.
Sacrifice yourself to save your friends or save them by marrying the villain? Marry the villain - if it's to save my loved ones, it'll be worth it and I'm sure there's some way I could end it! Being killed is kind of irreversible.
Fight to the death or have someone else rescue you? Have someone rescue me, though I would hope to do my fair share of rescuing as well!
Live in a land of deadly dinosaurs, atrocious aliens, or mythical monsters? WHOA ANY OF THOSE SOUND AMAZING. Probably the mythical monsters! <33
Wear a crown or corset or combat boots? Or all three? Crown and combat boots!
Sneak into the enemy’s lair or break down the front door guns a-blazing? Sneak in!
Have superpowers and have thousands of enemies or be ordinary and forgettable, but safe? Superpowers~
Live with your loving family, but never leave home or not have anyone close to you, but go on adventures? Both of these things are so important to me, tricky! I suppose adventures, but. Can't I have one person close to me? Someone I meet while adventuring, maybe? 8D
the hero in all of us
Would you travel in a group or be a loner? What role in the group would you fill? A loner! If I were part of a group, I would most likely be quiet but hopefully wise, always thinking of how to benefit the group. I'm more of a leader than a follower, but a loner first and foremost.
What would be your costume? Overall shorts, a pink shirt with a red seam on the neckline, floral boots and striped socks. Probably a bowler hat too. .. Why yes, I have thought about this before!
What would be your weapon of choice? Um. No weapon, maybe? :)
Would you have a sidekick or pet? Aw, a pet would be lovely! They make terrific companions, and I've always felt connections to the various pups I've had throughout my life.
Any special powers? I'm not sure I'd need any! My imagination and personality are pretty special~
If you could invent any device, what would it be and what would it do? It would tell me exactly what I want at all times. I always want to do something or eat something or what have you and just cannot think of it. Indecision is the worst!
What sub-genre would you be a part of? (romance/comedy/action…) Of the options, romance or comedy maybe! I quite like coming-of-age stories as well.
What conflict would you prefer? (man v. man, man v. wild…) How about man vs. self!
