Nothing good lived in the dark, nothing he wanted to see.
The night always comes before the day…that is why it is always dark in the beginning.
That’s not what you want to show me.
You see what you are meant. I am only meant to open the door.
I don’t understand…what’s on the other side?
Come and see.
Helpless, he went into the darkness, afraid of what would come for him. That was the trouble, wasn’t it? Things living in the dark, waiting to find him and…he couldn’t remember.
There was a face, delicate and terrible. The face of light, the face of love…Selene. The vampire, the goddess of the endless night and not the pale, luminescent moon.
She was running.
He strained his eyes to see what chased her, but what he saw could not fit into his vision. He saw, not heard, the voices that were calling her name and questioning her will. Small, nasty whispers, there were dozens nipping at her heels and drawing blood as she ran. Even with her abilities, she was breathless and growing tired. She wasn’t going to make it…
The hand came from nowhere and snatched her arm before he lost his grip on the dream and light tumbled in to save him.

A gasp tore from his throat as his eyes snapped open. A cold sweat covered his body, and for just a moment sleep still held him paralyzed. He couldn’t move, couldn’t breathe…only feel his own heart slamming against his ribs.
When he was free again, his hands curled into the sheets, aching for a pencil and pad, for a paintbrush, anything that could capture the vague, disturbing images that haunted his sleep. How would he show the voices, though? How would he paint the endless void that paved Selene’s way into…danger? Madness? Something was stalking her, voices were dead set on destroying his girlfriend, and he couldn’t even give them a face.
Something bad was happening…or going to happen to the woman he loved. He just didn’t know what.
