Remus looked up from his tea and essays. It was unusual for anyone to visit him quite this early.
"Come in!" He called, berating himself slightly for not getting up and opening the door in a proper way.
He sippeed his tea and leaned back in his chair, waiting for his visitor to enter. Looking around, he sighed. His office was almost as messy as his private rooms, but it suited him. Just papers and clutter, at least. Not anything nasty, not dirty, just...lived in.
He smiled. Yes, that was a good euphamism for it. Lived in.
He usually tried to keep it cleaner, at least his office, but he'd been preoccupied, with lessons and Theo and other things. He didn't like having an elf do it, it wasn't the elves fault he was a slob.
Mike opened the door and stepped inside Lupin's office, a smile on his face.
"Good morning, Remus." He took a few steps inside. "I have the essays corrected now. Some of them, I just couldn't help but point out some bad spelling, it was too bad." He winked slightly. Sure, spelling and grammar wasn't technically a part of DADA, but an essay should be readable and understandable. And if no one pointed their shortcomings out to the students, how would they learn?
"Here, this will be good. Thanks for doing that, I know it's a bit on the torturous side. They'll get better though. If you'd like more, I have a steady, seemingly-neverending supply of them." He grinned at Mike and sat on the edge of his desk.
"How is everything going, then? Finding yourself busy enough or should I give you more work to do?"
Mike put the essays down on the desk. "It was no problem. But you know, if you didn't tell students to write them, the supply would eventually dwindle." He couldn't help grinning back at that. He really didn't have anything against essays, neither writing them, nor correcting them. It was a good way of showing understanding of a subject.
"Things are rather good at the moment." Oh yes, very good actually. Like the arrangement with Snape, like Blaise wanting to see him again... "I'd be happy to help you out more, but it would have to be after the weekend. It feels as if I've fallen behind a little on my school work, which really only means that I'm not as far ahead as I'd want to be," Mike said and winked. "It's because of the fencing practice, but that will slow down after Sunday."
Remus feigned a surprised look. "You know, I'm sure you're right." He smiled widely. "I swear though, they seem to breed." He looked down at the essays on his desk. "I sure don't remember assigning so many." Remus sighed and shook his head. "But I guess I must have. They'll lessen as the term goes on; I just like to make sure the students understand the concepts and such before we go on to practicals. The best way to do that, in my opinion, is to make them put it in their own words. I won't seriously fob them off on you often, though. I make noise about it, true, but in reality I enjoy reading them, for the most part." He leaned in a little and lowered his voice. "Don't tell anyone I said that
( ... )
"Good, it sounds like you've everything in hand, then." Not surprising, really.
"Don't knock yourself out with the thing about asking the other students. Even if I didn't get that information till the end of the term, it would be fine. I can take up the slack next term. I do intend to be here next year, also, barring some weird incident or something. Someone has to break the new DADA teacher every year trend, it may as well be me, hey? So there will be time to make up for the deficiencies, just as long as I make sure the seventh years know everything they need to before they leave school this coming summer."
He smiled at Mike and scratched his neck.
"So if you need some rest before your fencing tournament, please take it. Don't let the stuff you're doing for me effect your other interests in a negative way, I wouldn't want you to do that."
Mike smiled. Of course Remus would stay; he was back, wasn't he? So the weird trend was broken anyway.
"That sounds good, and hopefully nothing bad will happen this year." Not very likely that You-Know-WHo would be quiet for more than a year. Somehow, it felt as if one could set the calendar by him...
"Ok, I'll take it easy. I promise to not do more than I want and have time for right now." He grinned at Remus. "The tournament shouldn't be too exhausting anyway, I just have to find a way to beat Pucey. That's the difficult part of it."
"Oh, I imagine something bad will happen. But, I'm a little bit of a pessimist. We'll see." He smiled a little ruefully. Maybe not the best thing to say to a student, but at least it was honest.
"I've never been to a fencing competition. I may come watch, it sounds interesting. So, good luck and have fun."
He gathered his papers and decided he'd get through a few more before taking a few minutes to rest before his first class.

"Where can I put them?"
