Friday Morning : Bill returns to teaching. 7th year History & Runes

Feb 17, 2005 20:44

Bill taught his first class, History of Magic, to the 7th years. He didn't do anything interactive this time, just informational. There was a lot to get through. He dismissed the class and wondered if Adrian would come up to speak with him. They both had the same class next, Runes, in the same room. So the time between classes left a few minutes for Adrian to come over if he wished to.

Before he knew it, though, a Ravenclaw girl had bounded up to his desk and began grilling him on aspects of the Egyptian heirarchy that he'd gone over perfectly well in class. She batted her eyes at him a little, and he groaned inwardly. But, he spoke with her and answered her repetitive questions. Sooner or later, she'd have to go or miss her next class. It turned out to be later: She dashed off just as his class was set to start, the students already in their seats. He shrugged and went on with it.

Bill wound his second lecture up and dismissed the class. He hadn't left any time for questions after, as he had with the History class previously. On purpose. He'd not wanted to deal with group discussion today. Especially with Adrian in his classes. The next class session would begin with discussion, so the students wouldn't be missing out on anything. He had chosen to do this just because he didn't feel like discussion today, not out of any feeling of insecurity or panic.

Bill felt good. Not irritated. Not unsure. Better than he had in a long while. Physically, he hurt. His leg hurt. His arm hurt. His cheek, his side. He just hurt all over. But it was a good hurt, enough to keep him focused without being overwhelming. He'd start feeling better within a day or two, but for now, this was good. Emotionally, though, he felt more stable than he had in weeks. He hopes that stuck around for a while.

He smiled and looked up, unsurprised to find that Adrian had hung back and was still in the classroom. He'd expected it. He smiled as he got his things together, then looked up.

"Mister Pucey. Do you have a question or concern I can help you with?"
