Strive

I never seem to have enough,
To survive the life we live,
I work till dawn, Though it's rough,
I still haven't enough to give,
I do my best,
To continue on,
Will I pass this test?
That seems to last so long.

I wipe her nose,
She's off to school,
And as she grows,
I drown in lifes pool,
I keep face,
I carry on,
To win this race,
I must run,
Make sure she's fed,
And hair all washed,
Then off to bed.
She's worth the cost.

I hope that she can't see,
The struggle that I hold,
What has come of me,
She'll never be my mold.

So today,
I try again,
and I just may,
Find my eternal zen.
