Well, it finally began! Last week I had my first two days of Teacher's College. It was mostly just some orientation seminars, and some training sessions for our new laptops, but I loved every second! I've already met a couple of nice people, and the profs we've met so far seem incredibly awesome. I'm so excited to begin my lectures and classes.
This week is going to be extra thrilling -- starting TUESDAY (as in, the actual first day of school), I'm in my placement classroom! I'm there from Tuesday until Friday, and I already have an assignment that's due the next week when we return to campus for our first three weeks of lectures/classes. I'm looking forward to meeting my associate teacher in person, and to meeting the grade 3s and 4s that I'll be teaching this semester. WISH ME LUCK!
While I'm in my classes at Nipissing Brantford campus I'm living with my paternal grandparents. I stayed with them from Tuesday to Friday of last week. It was really great...but OH SO QUIET. My goodness! On Tuesday I actually brushed my teeth (I EVEN FLOSSED!) and was ready for bed at like, 9 pm! I read a book and didn't actually go to sleep that early -- but it was so quiet around their house, I seriously probably could have gone to bed! So weird. It got a bit better as I got used to being there...but I can honestly say that it's a house that's conducive to productive homework-finishing (which I suppose is a really good thing).
In other news, I decided to give Stephenie Meyer's "Twilight" series a go. (Um, is that what you'd call the series?? All four books have different names..but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about). I've heard about it from a few people, so I picked up the first book the other day. I started it last night. And four hours into the night, I had read about 300 pages. I'll finish it tonight.
I am really enjoying it, and I'm going to read the next three for sure. I can see why some people say it's a bit like FanFic...as it does seem a bit fluffy... but as a) a large fan of fluffy FanFic and b) a MASSIVE Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan.... I can honestly say I'm loving this fluff. I keep picturing Buffy and Angel fluff that I used to read on FanFic.net. LOL. Maybe not what Stephenie Meyer was going for, but oh well! I believe this was written for a slightly younger audience than myself, but I like it and I'll keep reading. (After all, Harry Potter was technically a kids' book at the beginning too!).
Can I just say one thing though that's irking me ... why the HELL is her name spelled "StephEnie". SO MANY E's!!!! As a "Stephanie" (um, the RIGHT way to spell my name; I also accept Stefanie but don't love it)... I just can't stand the spelling of this author's name. LOL. Just me? Oh well.
So that's that! I'll update on what my grade 3s and 4s are like on Tuesday evening!
