Facebook, Drawings, and the Return of the Footnotes

Transy finally got Facebook yesterday, which is exciting to say the least.  Roomie is currently addicted to it, much to my amusement--I have been addicted to the internet for a long time, you see, and know how to deal with it. Her, on the other hand...  Well, let's just say that seeing the poor dear compulsively checking the thing while gentleman callers are trying to hold conversations with her is quite entertaining.

The theme for today's showcase of smudgy-Hope-crap is "Sketches I'm Afraid to Color."

1.) First up is this attempted Art Nouveau-style picture of Erana, from Quest for Glory.  I don't presume that you guys know who/what that is, just take it in stride that I'm dorkier than you thought and go on with your lives.  I'm thinking watercolors for this, maybe, but in that case I'd need to transfer her to a bigger sheet. Futhermore, I'm just scared I'll ruin it.  Ah, well.

2.) So, if you haven't read Alan Moore's The Watchmen, you need to.  I read it earlier this semester, while I should've been writing my 15-page Sandman essay for FLA2*.  I randomly started wanting to read it again a few days ago, but as no bookstore in Lexington seems to be carrying it and I'm not going to check anything out of the library with only a week left of school, I'm-a just buy it when I get home**.  To while away the time, then, I drew a picture of one of the characters, a fellow named Rorschach.  OMG SPOILERS to anyone who hasn't read it (he's masked for the first half of the book, but not in my picture, see).

He's a little creepy, but awesome.  I just want to give him a hug--well, a bath first, then a hug, in that order***.  I like the way the drawing turned out, I suppose, but if you've actually read the comic you can tell it doesn't look as much like him as it possibly could.  I really wanted to do him in my style, and my style evidently doesn't cater to dear Mr. Kovacs.

I like the hand, though.  I had Roomie's aforementioned gentleman caller hold up a white slip (what?!  It was the right sort of material!) in order to get it right.  So a shout out to Mr. Herrington--you make a great Rorschach-glove.

Anyway, I like him too much in pencil to ink/color him myself.  Travis, if you'd like to try your hand at him, be my guest.  He is a superhero, sort of.

* What?  They're both literary-style graphic novels.  It was...er...reference material.  Right!
** Gil, Travis, all you guys, you can borrow it then.  Heaven forbid you buy any comics of true literary meaning on your own *grins* .
*** Again with the redheads! Honestly, add Peter Quint from The Turn of the Screw to the mix and we can have a damn party!  Gragh.  It's probably a good thing Thomas left for Thailand today, or I might have had to start propositioning him as to the subject of role-play.****
**** And I don't mean D&D.
