Domoto Tsuyoshi first solo work I heard (
DW)
And I have to say it, I know nothing about funk music and honestly I don't know if I'm actually being biased but i really like it. T & U is just that one song you just can't stop listening to it although it's repetitive af and starts with weird sounds. The lyrics are kinda cute though. If i remember correctly, in the mste performance he said that T&U could just mean "Tsuyoshi & You" meaning that funk music is just to enjoy and have a fun time and this time you're having a nice time with Tsuyoshi's funk music, just Tsuyoshi & You, something like that. He even placed a little heart symbol next to the lyrics T & U, so in the official lyrics it says: "T & U ♡". SO CUTE. Break a bone Funk & 偉魂 (えらソウル) also has that funky groove sound I'm starting to love. Actually, 偉魂 (えらソウル) is also a wordplay(?) since he got the inspiration when he guested on a variety show and saw that the girl who hosted it has Air Soles shoes, something like that.
Like I said before, I have some kind of history with this particular mini album and that is, it was the first solo work of his I heard, that's why I was so dissapointed when I saw that the Limited Edition was out of print on CD JAPAN (as expected because I was too too late, the album is from 2016).
There's a reason I wanted the LE so bad, like really really bad. I found this copy relatively cheap on Amazon, was here in two - three days just to found out it was a Taiwanese Edition. There's nothing wrong on it aside from the fact that the materials seem cheap in comparision with the previous albums I've bought and also the fact that my PC couldn't read the DVD but anyway.
It always gives me goosebumbs the moment the piano notes starts to play in I've found my voice. This was the reason I wanted this album, the song it's only in the LE. It was the first song I heard of him, and it's was also the first time I started to realize how beautiful Tsuyoshi's voice alone is. One can clearly hear this man sings whith his whole heart and soul about finding his own place and accepting his own self as it is. it's beautiful.
I don't think there's a MV for any of the songs here(?) correct me if I'm wrong, but I've seen his MSTA perfomance of T & U a lot and oh, funk music, man, it's so fun to see. As a fun fact about that performance, I noticed that apparently he broke his costume and hides from the camera in the line up with the other astists, it's kinda cute actually. Anyway.
The contents of the DVD were some behind the scenes of the shootings for the cover and a footage of the live he did back then.
The shoots are amazing though and have "Release and freedom" as the concept, one of my favorites so far.
