A Few Random Things That Make Me Happy

Oct 18, 2010 15:58

 Random is my middle name.

I heart this collage. Audrey Hepburn, Louboutin heels, aquamarine martinis, key necklaces, pink flowers, giant colorful balloons, a view of an azure ocean, and a girl walking off into the sunset. These are a few of my favorite things. I want to dive into this collage and roll around in it, soaking up all the glamour and fabulosity.

Another thing that makes me happy: My dog, Archie.

Of course, you realize, Andy Warhol created this print. He saw the absolute cuteness that is my dog and immediately asked if I would allow Archie to sit down for a portrait. Naturally, I said yes. And here it is.*  Isn't it wondrous?

A goofy picture of moi. Don't I look like fun? #shameless #selfpromotion

Acting goofy is liberating. It can really relieve stress. I suggest you give it a try once in a while. Put on an old Halloween costume or a tutu (if you happen to have one) and just prance around the house, taking pictures of your self. You'll feel like a kid again. Note to self: Buy a tutu.

An epic book by one of my favorite YA writers, Francesca Lia Block.

Francesca has a magical way with words. She always makes me want to live inside one of the fairytale-esque worlds that she's created. Weetzie Bat was the first book I ever read by her, and Dangerous Angels is a compilation of all four Weetzie Bat books. My favorite thing about Francesca is that she makes Los Angeles, my favorite city, seem like a candy-coated, sugary dreamland, and if you look closely, it really is as mystical as she makes it out to be.**

Shoes I want but cannot afford (They're almost $200!) But aren't they cute? I mean, pink? Bows? Sequins? Yes, please! These shoes were made for flirting.

And, finally, a hookah pipe. For those of you who don't know, hookah is a water pipe used to smoke flavored tobacco (my personal favorite flavor is vanilla, but raspberry, green apple, and white grape are also good). Hookah is particularly popular in the Middle East, but in recent years, it has caught on as a popular pastime for people throughout the globe.

*Obviously, Andy Warhol had nothing to do with my dog's portrait, but my good friend, Argeesht, was able to do it justice nonetheless.
**Clearly, I'm biased, having lived in LA almost my whole life. But, seriously, it's a magical place.
